Both evil little dog and I woke up at 4 AM because it was @ 5 hours of sleep and now we're like omg wtf to do until it's time to 'get up.'

It's not helping that this hotel is 1001 degrees with no in the room a/c which doesn't surprise me much.

But we're here, we toured the hills of Slaine and Brú na Bóinne (Knowth & Newgrange) plenty more later.

why can't we sleep

*sending cooling breeze* (Not that there's any available hereabouts, but the thoughts count, I hope)

I suppose that's Central and North European summer in Europe for you, mostly everywhere. Even in hotels and particularly in hotel rooms it's not common to have A/C, also not in South Europe, by the way. Not even ceiling fans are frequent, although this is starting to change. I'm always rolling my eyes at U.S. people making fun or roasting those of us who complain of/ suffer from/ bitch about the summer heat, taking the temperatures we find difficult to bear nothing special. Most people would need to get to an air-conditioned supermarket to find some relief, or are happy to be in their car for the air-condition. *g*
And yes, not sleeping long because it's too hot is very common, too. That being said, you have all my sympathies, I hope you'll find some relief soon, and can enjoy your trip even so!
I'm always carrying a hand-held fan and at home also a nearly-wet small towel, to wipe my face, neck, arms and legs and get some relief from evaporation.

You seem to have hit a heatwave; not expecting sleep tonight as it's almost as oppressively warm here in Perthshire as it was twelve hours ago :-(

Newgrange is on a mythical bucket list of mine; if I understand how they work anyway. Mythical as I find it almost too mentally exhausting to go outside my front door a lot of the time.

Looking forward to following your World Tour of Ireland and Wales :-)
