The weekend
Aug. 25th, 2019 04:36 pmSo we went to the winery after the first week. In a way it was a mistake because everyone is SO angry and we’ve already gone over this ground so many times and all it does is infuriate and depress us. At least our retired coworker (she just left in May) broke in and asked about my trip but not enough. It wasn’t enough. That said, it was good to go out for a drink. Also the winery has expanded a bit (and was TOO busy today) and they now have a wood fire pizza food truck pulling up outside. I got their Hawaiian and it was actually shockingly good. Salty meaty-sweety. I do kinda love that combo.
I bitch about this place a lot but there are some nice things. Like today at the winery, there was a box of cucumbers. It’s pretty common for the locals to bring in their excess veggies and fruits and dump them in the library or apparently the winery, free to a good home. Cuke salad on the way.
I finally made it to Huntington to get my comics. I did eat lunch before going because as much as I wanted to go to Hillbilly hot dog, I knew that wouldn’t be possible. Yep there was at least 30 people in line (heck there were still people standing outside when I went home at 545 and it closes at 6 pm). I got my comics but this will be the last of some of them, well close to it as D.C. is closing the Vertigo line and that’s all I collect. If Lucifer and Books of Magic (I’m ambivalent about the others) aren’t picked up by D.C.’s other lines, I might just go via mail for the two Buffyverse comics and honestly I’m not even sure about that. So far I’m thoroughly underwhelmed by the new Buffy. I’ve only read Angel 0 so far so I can’t judge it.
I am proud of myself, I was in both Michael’s and Home Goods/TJ Maxx and did NOT buy any Halloween stuff. I truly want the Lemax Halloween village (ala the Christmas villages) but they are between 50-100$ PER building. That seems over the top expensive. Still I have my wants (maybe if I can get coupons….)
I did pick up top in Macy’s and a couple manga at BooksaMillion. However, I had something happen at dinner that I’ve not really had happen to this level before. Mom, however has. I got only a few bites into dinner and I felt full to the point of nausea/ate so much I might puke. All I really had in me was a glass of tea. Nearly 6 hours later, I’m still feeling like that in spite of only having a little bit of food in me. Strange, uncomfortable, ugly.
It’s funny because it’s looking more and more like I will be doing that ghost hunter murder mystery for nano because it won’t get out of my head and my other urban fantasy and/or the vampire steampunk I WANT to do won’t give me plot. Anyhow now that I have a DVR again I’ve been binging a lot of these shows. I gave up on Ghost Hunters years before it went off the air mostly because they were fighting with each other a lot and I hate that (I swear they tell reality shows that’s what everyone loves but I truly hate it). Anyhow, I was surprised to see Amy and Adam from Kindred Spirits (one of the few shows I actually like because they’re not finding demons every other second or telling people their illnesses are because of spirits and they need to find reiki healers and Tibetan shamans to cure them) were members of the TAPS team (at least after the one cofounder quit). And then on Ghost Adventure the other Amy (the one I’m modeling the murder victim on) was a part of Zak’s team. Hmmm wonders how to go about getting on as a tech and spinning off my own show (who wants to see a ghost show staffed with middle aged pagans because I could assemble that Avengers team right now?!)
