Sometimes being a friend means knowing when to walk away

L was on a rampage today because it's all about HER, how much harder SHE works, and how much MORE she has to do even though she's only one of FOUR of us on the same project (hiring 2 faculty members) but only SHE is so overworked.

If I didn't walk away she might never speak to me again because I was very likely to tell her what half of us are always thinking.

It occurs to me that I have read almost nothing in 6 weeks. If that doesn't speak to the depths of my depression and how very little time I have, I'm not sure what does.

Am I writing right now? No. Am I working on the exam I have to print out tomorrow? No.
Am I trying to live tweet Prodigal Son without being spoilery? Yes I am.

That's something I find myself doing an awful lot; not just with friends. It's a survival tactic for life. Still really struggling, but fighting harder than I have for a long while.

And it is. I knew if I didn't walk my temper would get the best of me and my temper is not something anyone wants to deal with because it is vicious

I have walked to protect myself. Sometimes I have walked permanently to protect myself and it HURTS, but I've done it. It's good to take temporary breaks too, so, more power to you.

It is something you have to do. She is a friend but she can be exhausting so breaks are definitely in order
