Better than expected

It was supposed to be cold and rainy today. Instead it was in the 60s and bright. If it wasn't for the 50-55 mph winds I would have gone for a hike. I didn't want to blow off the hills.

The Spot on Main, the coffee shop was packed but I got the last table and did some writing. If I don't finish nano tonight I will tomorrow. I will be cooking tomorrow for myself and I'm hoping that will be okay with my stomach.

Food wasn't okay but today I tried a new pancake mix, Krusteaz's protein pancakes (because being diabetic I shouldn't have too much in the way of pancakes but carbs are easier on my terrible stomach). I have a confession. I'm capable of making elaborate meals and baked goods but I can't make pancakes. They come out like a Jackson Pollack picture, they break, they spread to the size of the pan. These were a touch thick but they cooked perfect and puffed up like dutch babies! I was pleased.

And today I got two fantastic reviews of my Prodigal Son WiP Come Undone (you can see the comments here.). It really made my day because it's been a hard week. (I'm really worried about getting new health insurance and trying to figure out what will and will not be covered re: my pills and if they'll count to my deductible or not because I need to know if I have to start budgeting for nearly 2 grand of meds a month) Anyhow I'm pretty proud of this one.

I'm worried also about Kanda. He's not eating much. I don't know if it's teeth but I suspect it is. Otherwise he seems okay.

I'm worried about me. I thought that maybe I was having a reaction to black pepper because after eating my throat and mouth felt ulcerated and numbed out. Today all I had was pancakes and had the same effect but less of it. Not sure what this is about.

But what else that worked out better than expected and worse at the same time was Loot Crate. I ended up with two that I didn't want and thought I skipped. To be fair one is from July and I was so upset over Mom back in June I might have missed skipping. I contacted them to ask about returning (and in the past I'm not sure I ever got my money back). BUT the one that got hung up from July ( there was a supply issue) could be returned but they didn't have to give me money back because it was before their bankruptcy. How about you blow me? So 30$ and I get nothing? I opened the box. It had a Speed Racer flag (my first anime love) and a Spidey t-shirt (there's a SPiderman anime? Is this from the Into the Spiderverse thing? I'm not sure but okay it's a cool shirt). I'll probably just open the other one too and cancel this entirely. I'm so over it.

Also to the good is someone who's been commenting on all my Buffyverse stuff just asked me how best to approached the Connor/Dawn ship as they want to give it a try. That made me happy that someone thought I did it well enough to ask.


The last book I read

Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire which I enjoyed though the ending fell a bit flat to me. I also finished another novella The Monster of Elendhaven by Jennifer Giesbrecht which is dark and I did enjoy it. I am also shocked that two novellas got a hard cover treatment. I liked that

What I am reading now


I set aside Riptide by Preston and Childe because the Popsugar Reading Challenge for 2020 has a book with a map as a challenge prompt and this had that so I'll wait on it. I'm reading Unity which is a Deep Space Nine book (and finishes the alphabet challenge for me) So far it's boring as hell but it might get better. It's playing with one of the more interesting ideas from the very early seasons of ST:TNG.

What I'm Reading Next I'm not sure. Well I do need to finish that Walking Dead graphic novel compendium
