And the last one them is gone
Jan. 28th, 2020 10:13 pmThe last of both my grandmothers' friends died this morning. She was the last of them. She was 99. Her house is next door to my grandmother's and across from my parents. My Dad grew up in and out of her house being so close. My mother from the next town over became fast friends with her daughter and brought my other grandma into the picture and they were even closer friends (than to my grandma next door). All these small town Italian women. THey were friends. their children were friends and my brother and I are friends with her grandchildren. Life in small towns.
Goodbye Vincenzia. It was a nice long life.
Otherwise it was a boring day for me but I DO have good news. Just 24 hours of compression has helped with that damn blood clot. It's not perfect of course but it's less angry unless I touch it.
My friend Flippy sent me an article on last night's Prodigal Son and I could have written this one. It like and was disappointed by the things I were. Obviously spoilers but you can see it here.
The question has to be asked: How much of their responses were scripted? This is a non-linear multiple point of view story but by the end we realize that the whole mental health evaluation was set up but they couldn't have known the questions asked. Were they aiming to make Malcolm look nuts? Maybe a little but then no one answered anything as a lie. But how much of it was what they actually believed? Certainly Gil, Dani and JT are flat out honest.
Edrisa is too but she reveals that Malcolm is well respected among true crime buffs and other profilers which is in stark contrast to what we saw from Colette and the FBI. I doubt they would have looped Jessica in. It's easy to believe she wants Malcolm fired because she hates his job and believes it's not good for his mental health. On the other hand, you have to wonder about her other responses. It does sound like she's developing a crush on Gil but it was interesting to hear her say she helped out because 'she likes it when her friends owe her something.' That says something about her character.
And there's Malcolm. He admits to hallucinating AND to the fact that his father tried to kill him. In theory this is on tape. Who is listening to this? Gil? The Team? The higher brass? Do they think this is a lie to trap Simon? I felt cheated that we didn't see someone ask about this. We had the scene with Gil. We have Malcolm saying I AM NOT WELL. But we don't get Gil asking about any of this. Has he not listened to the tape yet? Is it a tape? I would imagine they were listening in live to know to surround the room guns drawn. So NO ONE is asking about the fact that Malcolm is hallucinating freely and that he's suffering because he can't unknow that his father tried to kill him. Even after Malcolm admits to frying his fucking brain and that he might have down it again does not get Gil sitting down and offering more comfort than we saw.
I felt cheated, like they missed a huge opportunity. We saw Malcolm wound Gil. We saw the apology. Now was the time to see Gil say I'm here, let's talk about this. I still say Martin will play it off next week as this is what I told JOhn to get him in the woods so I could kill him before he killed you, my boy. I had to protect you.'
