I'll be periodically putting up some books here that I'm getting rid of. Since I haven't worked in forever, I can't afford to just give them away but if you're interested, let me know. I'm just asking postage/handling (will send media mail unless otherwise requested), 1$ for PB and 2$ for hard cover.

I'd be interested in these, but I dunno how I'd get the money to you, have you got any ideas. And it's more expensive to mail them to here for sure, do you know how much it is to send stuff to Europe? If it's a hassle for you don't worry.
And stop tempting me with books :P The descriptions 'vampire fic' and 'New Orleans based historical mystery' are too much for me to handle XD

Date: 2005-07-30 01:45 am (UTC)The Hambly thing is set in the 1800's in New Orleans. Ben January is a 'free man of color' who was trained to be a doctor in France but returned to his native Louisiana after malaria (or something) wiped out his wife. However New Oreleans is MUCH less kind to Africans at that time period and he's always in danger of being enslaved. Hambly put a lot of research into the time period and how blood lines (i.e. how much European is in a person of color) effected how they were treated. The first few were good, the later ones got repetitive. I liked Ben's tuberculosis alcoholic musician friend Hannibal better. I've stopped reading the series at this point.
