There IS fandom orange. Someone pointed out Luke had an orange flight suit. How could I forget that?

And then it hit me OMG everything in Star Trek was orange. Every bed had that metallic cloth that was orange (and often back lit with green and purple, ah the 60s)

Here have Kirk sleeping on it and bonus orange chair

Orange doors (hi, Spock)

Khan and all those orange jumpsuits (and bonus 60s sexism with the girls barely clothed)

Even Vulcan was pretty orange.

And my friend [profile] newbuzwuzz made me a great cover for Psychedelic Butterfly

Isn't it great?

Psychedelic Butterfly is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Spike/Dru sent in the 1970s (with Bonus Ripper & Ethan) here. My story is old but the cover is new for [community profile] fandomtrumpshate

Speaking of wonderful things created for me, [personal profile] shanachie_quill wrote me a fun Prodigal Son story with young Malcolm bonding with Papa!Gil Just a Little Fun

And here are some more fanfic recs for Prodigal Son

Man of Gears and Metal

Ripper Street Cafe 2: Caffeine Addiction

My Father's Evil

In non fan things, my cousin, her daughter and daughter's boyfriend visited for a few hours, haven't seen them in a year (for the cousin who's my age) and two or more for her daughter. It was a nice visit.

Late sixties, though. Early sixties was all about the pastels. Once in, orange remained trendy for a while. To this day, the older DC Metro cars (from when the Metro opened in 1976) have an orange/yellow color scheme.

Oh, man, the bonus 60s sexism in Star Trek. They tried. They even gave us a few female scientists who were competent. But. Yeah, the message was so strong that only beautiful women are allowed to exist and the less clothing they are wearing the better.

I'd forgotten how much orange there is in the Original Series (and, of course, then having to remember that for the many things it did right, TOS has its own issues as well...)

Yeah. They did things to push the envelope where they could, but like a lot of things, but there's so many other things to tackle as well. That, and there's a certain amount of "some things we are wise to, some things we are not."

Your visual descriptions in the story were so striking that I simply had to go for the orange and the green, and the corduroy, AND the sequins! *g*

Axel made me watch DS9 Trials and Tribble-ations for the first time last night. Was fun to the juxtaposition, my brain had glossed over how much the sets and designs had changed.

The only good thing about the 60's half-naked women is there was a lot less of the air-brushing that would happen now.
