Geektastic day
Jul. 25th, 2020 09:48 pmMore about that later. First

Prompt 7: Violet
Violet is a cheerful color that is associated with a variety of things including: originality, self-esteem, insight, poetry, discernment, understanding, creativity, music, perception, inhibition, and health.
Oh how I love all things violet, well purple. Blue, red, purple and black, those four are my favorite colors. Which is number one changes by day. I'm such a fan of purple. I have plenty of purple clothes (including scrub pants), purses and even my curtains are purple, well some of them -->
and if you've been following along since the beginning you're probably thinking purple curtains and red couch? Not in the same room, relax.
Amethyst is one of my favorite stones, if you rummage thru my jewelry you'll find tons of it. Want to make me happy? Give me amethyst.
I'm thinking on purple in my fandoms. I don't have many that leap to mind. There was certainly a lot of purple lighting in the original Star Trek, that's one of the few things that I can think of. Oh and of course The Joker's jacket but I'm not a huge fan of him.
If I remember right, Britt used some violet washes in this fanvid. If not, have a fun fanvid any how
You'd think someone who had spent so much time at Comic-Con today I'd come up with more but nope. But that's the reason for today's title. I finally got to spend some time at Comic-Con, sure I miss the vendors and the cosplay but I do have to say I liked attending this way. Certainly cheaper. All the panels are being hosted on YouTube so I hope they're there permanently so I can see more.
I attended Keanu Reeves Constantine's 15th anniversary. I've only seen this movie once. I'm a huge Hellblazer fan and Keanu wasn't John. He just wasn't. That said, the movie wasn't a bad movie (just a bad adaptation). I should see it again. His love for this movie was infectious.
I sat in the Archer panel which mostly them talking about being drunk and not showering most of the shelter in place and somehow that seems right. I am looking forward to seeing S11 and Simon Pegg and Jamie Lee Curtis will have roles. neat. I sat in on Let's Get Spooky which I guess is a podcast but not that special.
I went to two writing panels. One on Master storytelling that I'll put in writerly ways tomorrow and perhaps one of the best I attended today one on Native American/Latinx authors. I got more people to follow on Twitter and there was some good stuff about representation and comic books and more that just sound like fun. Check it out
I plan to attend some Star Trek stuff tomorrow. And for the other part of the violet challenge have this What things are you able to offer others to bring a little sunshine into their lives?
Well I can write you drabbles. Drop me a simple prompt and I can give it a shot. My main fandoms at the moment are Prodigal Son, Lucifer, Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel, Fullmetal Alchemist, Star Trek (any). I do a lot of anime, just ask.
And let's have more violet/purple stuff.
Purple sweatshirt and my dragon scarf (which someone wanted to see) and the Raven Boys in the pic
My writer shirt
My Star Trek shower curtain because damn it I love it
orchid
orchid close up
Million Bells
hosta
double petunia
lobelia
bell flower
this eggplant awaiting dinner plans
This is 2013. I had forgotten how pretty my butterfly plant and the surrounding flowers were but my landlord trampled it to death working on the deck. Sigh.
Know what else is violet? Me when I bruise

I'm still dealing with problems from that fall

Date: 2020-07-26 03:14 am (UTC)But, yes, two of my favorite colors too.
I also watched the Constantine panel and they were very enthusiastic. I bought the DVD just because they inspired me too. Luckily I never really got into comics, so I don't need to worry about the adaption-ness.
Thanks for the link to the writing panel. I hadn't considered going to that.

Date: 2020-07-27 02:18 am (UTC)There is definitely more world building in the comics. It was a decent movie. You might like some of the D&D and worldbuilding panels
🌈
Date: 2020-07-28 12:32 am (UTC)Love the dragon scarf! And the Star Trek shower curtain is a giggle.
I love purple too. I don't have that much purple clothing at the moment though. My favorite purple sweater finally frayed so badly that I gave up and tossed it. (It was literally starting to disintegrate after so many years.)
Re: 🌈
Date: 2020-07-28 02:09 am (UTC)Aww too bad about the sweater.
Re: 🌈
Date: 2020-07-28 02:14 am (UTC)There's a life cycle for favorite sweaters.
They go from something that I can wear to work, to frayed enough to only wear very casually like hanging out with friends or to the grocery store, and then they get so worn out that I only wear them at home like over pajamas in the wintertime.
And then one day I go to put them on and I can barely tell the real armhole from the gaping holes where the knit has come undone and they aren't even fit for home cuddle time.
I think I've lost more blue sweaters than purple ones to that fate, but that's only because purple is harder to find to begin with.
