It's been a long time since I had a new fandom and canon that I wanted to talk about. Last year I got it back with Prodigal Son It's been since forever since I've found a show that I love and could write for. (For example I really enjoyed Lucifer but it rarely bunnies me). In one year I wrote @ 110 stories for this fandom, three of the novel length. What is it I love about this canon? For one the premise is interesting, Malcolm Bright is a former FBI profiler who is now working for the NYPD for the man who more or less helped raise him since he was 10, Lieutenant Gil Arroyo. Malcolm should have been a spoiled trust fund kid in the 1%.

However his father is the infamous serial killer, The Surgeon (and was a cardiothoracic surgeon), Martin Whitly now in Claremont pyschiatric hospital for the criminally insane. Malcolm's sister, Ainsley is a reporter and Mom, Jessica, is still locked in her NYC blue blood role, tempered with being ostracized for her husband's crimes for the last 20 years.

Malcolm is now paired with two detectives, JT Tarmel and Dani Powell who slowly warm up to him and with the medical examiner, Edrisa Tanaka who is absolutely infatuated with him. Malcolm is plagued with night terrors, PTSD, anxiety and other mental health issues.

SO there is plenty there to really dig into, not to mention we have Lou Diamond Phillips, Michael Sheen, Bellamy Young, Tom Payne among others starring in this.

And now for what I find DIFFICULT about canon I thought the worst I would have to deal with was Edrisa being insanely inappropriate flirtation wise but no. With the finale, Malcolm witnesses his sister killing a bad man and when it premieres on tuesday we're expected to believe that the house covered in blood is going to be cleaned up, the siblings having disposed of his body and no one is the wiser including the mother who isn't going to wonder why the hell all the furniture and floor coverings in her living room are gone?!? This is such a dumb idea I wrote meta on it.
