A Rant

Dear UPS,

Thank you for being completely and utterly useless when it comes to customer service and delivering packages to us, which is of course your only function. I was only a little peeved yesterday when I called to try and arrange a time to delivery after getting your 'first attempt' notice and your call center person informed me that since I have two more attempts, all shall be well and hung up on me. This comes after your automated system ACTUALLY heaves a sigh and says if I'm sure I must talk to a customer service rep, who have no more info than the stupid atuomaton does, she'll connect me. I can see the eyeroll from the snotty tone of the machine. All I was trying to do was to tell you to come on Friday since I'm home most of the day and knew I would not be in at all on thursday and it has to be signed for.

Of course they try again to deliever and I once again call the 1800 number (it's 1-800-833-9943, go ahead and call it and hear the voice) and this time the rep is on my side. She agrees UPS doesn't take into consideration that people actually have to work and can't be there. She sets up the time between 10-2 just like on the delivery slip says could be an option. She has to do it TWICE because there's two packages (no matter that it's the same shipper). This takes forever.

No more than ten minutes go by and the local chapter of UPS calls me and informs me that no I can not do this and of course callwave picks up the call and I have to call them back long distance to say WTF you just did it at the national center. What do you mean I can't do it? It says call this number and set up a time. If I couldn't do it, then why did I waste nearly a half hour doing so? Larry can't tell me that and puts me onto a supervisor after three seconds of hearing MY tone. Henriette proceeds to tell me because it's ground and not air, I can't dictate times of delivery. But I work. I can't be here and no, you can not deliver to my place of work (well they probably could but... I don't know the address and I don't want that) I said fine, let me just waive the sign for thing and you leave it. No, they can't do that. They'd lose their job. How about we have a neighbor sign for it ma'am? Excuse me, you want me to have a STRANGER sign for my stuff? Explain the sense in this. I said, I did not ask for the sign for and I want it waived because I'm an not running to Chillicothe a 120 mile round trip to pick up two couch pillows from QVC. Harry snottily informs me I should just have it shipped air mail next time if I want to dictate delivery times. So, Harry, you paying that extra postage? So, I can't be here for delivery, you won't waive the sign for, you won't come in the morning as asked in spite of offering to do so and your only suggestion is to send it back to QVC?

THanks for fucking nothing UPS. I flat out told her this is why I always use DHL and I'll be informing QVC that they might want to make the switch to a comparable and less annoying service.

Ask What Brown Can Do For You? I'll tell you Brown, curl up and die like a squashed spider, you useless asshats.

That's horrible!! I'm not a fan of UPS myself and your story reminds me why. I am so sorry you had to deal with that incredible (and not in the good way) asshattery.

I am amazed that these people are still in business. What kind of customer service is this?

none whatsoever. And I am serious about rewarding this without the cussing but with names to send to national headquarters AND to QVC with a suggestion of DHL in the future

We had a similar incident here recently. I think it was last Thursday, to be exact (I know it was a Thursday).

Mom and I come back from wherever one evening to find a failed delivery slip hanging from our front door handle. It says that another attempt will be made the next day; if we want it delivered without having to sign for it, Mom must put her signature in an assigned spot on the slip.

Friday comes, with nothing to show for it. Mom's a mite miffed, and we're both convinced that they bullshitted us. There's an address (in a town fifteen or more minutes south of here) for where the package can be picked up. Convinced that no business can be done over the weekend, plans are made to call on Monday and then go to pick it up.

Mom calls Monday. They say that the package has been delievered, and so-and-so signed for it. Said so-and-so does not live at this address, so Mom informs the person on the line of this. The person rereads the address over the phone.

It's not even our address that they were supposed to deliver to. The numbers aren't even identical. But apparently the person driving the truck cannot tell one set of numbers from another. *sighs*

Yep they're morons. One of the other doctors I work with order a piece of scientific equipment worth hundreds and UPS delivered it to the trashy trailer a mile away as her nearest neighbors since she wasn't home
