Fannish Things

I'm not feeling too fannish lately for reasons you can guess at. I started three new shows, one on TNT, one of SyFy and I forget the other.

Okay so Titans isn't new but since I don't have HBO Max it's new to me. I know I've said this in the last week or so but Teen Titans was one of my favorite DC comics. I'm excited to see a non-cartoon version (and I don't actually like Teen Titan Go) I expect changes. Nightwing seems relatively the same and I've only seen a flash of Beastboy (or whatever he'll be called on this) The women are signficantly changed at least from how I remember Starfire and Raven. I know there was the usual embarrassing fan bitching that Starfire was Black. I'm like she's non-human and was sort of orangish. I'm fine with her being Black. I'm curious as to what other changes she'll have though. It's also a bit darker than expected so we'll see.

SyFy is giving us Surreal Estate. I've seen the first and have the second. It's literally a real estate agency that cleans and sells haunted/possessed/murder ridden properties. I was intrigued by the first one. The acting was a mite shaky but I enjoyed the show. Did anyone else try this?

And then there's Wellington Paranormal, a New Zealand production that instantly reminded me of What We Do in Shadows, with this dry, playing the humor straight sort of thing going on. So much so in fact, I should look up to see if the creators are the same. That said I wasn't amused much. It's a half hour so that's not so bad but I don't see this becoming my new show.

week 3 is tonight (I think it's on CW) but they did 2 episodes on week one. I am very much underwhelmed but sort of proud that I picked up on the creator's style

We binged Katla on Netflix and I really love d it. It's an 8 episode scifi/drama from Iceland. It hits some heavy themes of grief and suicide etc., but I thought it was really well done and creepy in the right ways.
