Feelings Drabbles

cornerofmadnessThe last one is a little naughty so let's call that one mature. It's interesting how many different ways of doing post series final storylines (and I swear I'm not as depressed as these drabbles make me sound)
Giles – S 3 Remorse
He had indulged his Slayer’s feelings for a monster. In retrospect it wasn’t his smartest decision. There had been enough star-crossed romance to it to appeal to the quixotic fool inside of him. Jenny had paid the price for his folly.
Giles paused, shifting the flowers in his arms, not roses, not ever again after how Angelus had lied with them. Someone else was at Jenny’s grave, a spray of orchids at his feet. Angel looked over his shoulder at Giles. Through the embarrassment Giles could see the horrible regret the vampire felt. Somehow, it wasn’t enough. Jenny deserved better.
Holtz – in Quor-Toth – Feelings of Betrayal
Feelings were treacherous things. It wasn’t supposed to go like this. He wasn’t supposed to feel about the child of monsters the way he had felt about his own children. Holtz watched the way his ‘son’ explored his world with enthusiasm, his little two-year-old hands picking up everything.
Was it a betrayal of his family to look upon this child and love him too? He couldn’t help it if it was. Steven was a child like any other in so many ways, all of which helped stitch him into Holtz’s heart. Smiling, Holtz extended a hand to his boy.
Buffy – Post Chosen - Trying to be Numb
Feelings were dangerous for a Slayer to have. Buffy remembered Kendra telling her that. The girl had probably been quoting it from the handbook. She thought about Faith and the deadly emotions that had bubbled in her. Buffy shuddered against thoughts of Angelus and her own darkness explored with Spike. She had tried to push her feelings aside to lead the potentials and became a hard-assed bitch that even she couldn’t stand.
Now in Italy, she danced with the Immortal, luring him in so she could eventually destroy him. She wanted to be finally dead inside but wasn’t. That hurt worse.
Angel – during Home - Divorcing Emotion
A thin pane of glass separated him from the person he had poured all his love into. He was drained of all feelings. His body shuddered at the enormity of what he had done. The smell of his son’s blood was still thick in his nose. The look of peace at last that had been on the boy’s face as he died would haunt him forever.
With a final look at his son in his newly spun life, Angel turned away with a ludicrous thought that Connor still had no fashion sense. Numb now, he headed to Sunnydale to die.
Connor – During Home – Confusion
He looked at Cordelia’s still form. Maybe if he had been better equipped to handle his feelings things wouldn’t have gotten so bad. It all started when he started to believe Angel really loved him and had begun to feel it himself. He had betrayed everything he was. He should have listened to his heart when Cordelia tried to turn him against Angel. He should have said something to his father. It was too late now. His daughter’s blood on his hands, Connor leaned down and kissed Cordelia. He scooped her up. It was time to make the hurting stop.
Spike – During NFA – If…
His feelings always got him in trouble. If he hadn’t been so oversensitive with Cicely and his poetry he wouldn’t have died in an alley. Overwhelming worry for Dru resulted in him in a wheelchair. If Drusilla leaving him hadn’t torn him up so much, he’d never have ultimately ended up with that bloody chip in his head. If he hadn’t fallen hard for the Slayer, he wouldn’t have humiliated himself trying to make her love him. If they hadn’t instilled a newfound sense of duty of him, would he be here now in a rain-drenched alley ready to die?
Darla – Post NFA – Mother’s Love
If they only knew what she was truly feeling, would the Powers take this away from her? She never could figure out if it was meant as a gift or a torment but she chose to believe the former.
Even when his mind wasn’t his, she watched over him. Later, she was proud of him saving his new family from the demons then going back to save his father. They were together now, more or less as her bright boy went to school. Darla placed an insubstantial kiss on his cheek as he slept, hoping he would feel his mother’s love.
Connor/Faith – Post NFA – Trying Not to Feel
He was just blindly feeling his way. He didn’t want her to suspect he was sort of clueless. He skimmed his hands over her skin, feeling the petal-soft flesh of her breasts. Don’t let her realize that he had only done this a couple of times.
Connor had been surprised Faith found him after Angel died. She was as devastated as he was at the loss of his father. Grief turned to lust. He knew this was just another pity screw like his first one but he didn’t care. He’d lose himself in her. He didn’t want to feel any more.
