Medical update

Well the ding-dong nurse called me to tell me that my liver tests were fine and that I definitely had an infection (I asked for the white blood cell count and yeah definitely do). A GI infection? Huh? Dr. Mari said it was an occult infection and I agreed (I.e. we don't know WHERE it was, hence occult)It was more likely a UTI since I have the usual female predisposition but it was clearing up by the time I got to the doctor's.

Had the ultrasound today. I was less than impressed with the way she was pressing that 20,000$ ultrasound transducer into my ribs (she left bruises) then left me covered chest, abdomen and back with ultrasound transductive gel. (She makes one half asses swipe with a towel and I try to get the rest off with the paper shirt they gave me and ended up having to drive to work and wash the rest off in the bathroom).

I took a peek at some of my pictures/report. Looks normal for the liver and right kidney (I actually have two kidneys which believe it or not is a concern with my genetic background). I guess they'll be calling me with all those results in a few days.

I'll let you know. If the dumb organ has to go c'est la vie. It's not the huge surgery it used to be.

Gah, I hate that gel.

Ended up everywhere when they were looking at my heart. Probably didn't help that they had me doing all sorts of things to try to trigger it into misbehaving.

had to get 4 ultrasounds while pregnant. THAT was fun. Got the gel in places I couldn't even reach. :)

That would suck worse. I've had uterine ultrasounds luckily all NOT pregnant. My favorite part, drink tons of water, try not to pee yourself then have them say "your bladder is TOO full. Can you pee out just a little?" Yeah I'll try to hold back the lake thank you while whizzing a tiny bit. I can't imagine doing this with a baby sitting on the bladder to boot.

Yeah, that's pretty much the sum of it. Your bladder is squished to begin with, and you're you're suppose to drink enough to push the baby into better view. Oh, and don't think drinking that much is going to be fun when you're nauseous. :)
