Must be getting a spin off storm here. It's black as pitch...there goes me and the apple festival. Well I was warned that Saturday is a nightmare at teh fest parking and people wise. I'll hope this burns off. There's a country band I want to hear tonight.

Remembered what I wanted to say from last night. It was a TV rant. Finished watching Bones. The show went from okay to needing to kick serious butt next week if they plan on me watching it. More under the cut. First off, nothing against the show but I hate when the network raves about it being a smash hit after one episode. Cut me a break. It annoys me enough to go look for something else.

And the show is making it easy to turn it off. I was so infuriated before the opening credits rolled I don't know how I made it through. We have a forensic team worker who can't handle blown up bodies. Well you deal with burnt bodies often in forensic anthropology. So my liking for her tanked. There was more that I can't remember now that irritated me before the credits.

I said it las time I'll say it again. calling them squints and Bones is beyond annoying. It's not cute. It's not affectionate. It's like sandpaper on skin. Dear Dr Brennan you work for a government run institute, treating the government like the enemy is getting massively old very fast. WHy are you and your paranoid conspiracy theory team mate even there (My liking for him tanked too)

Does anyone believe she can blow off homeland security like that? At the very least she could be arrested for obstructing an investigation. I'm betting HS has no sense of humor about this kind of thing. And her attacking the HS mole in the friendship league (or whatever it was), okay, note to self when writing a strong female, D.M. do not have her attacking people wily nily, and tromping on their neck in public. It might sound cool but in reality I'm not sure how this woman is outside of a jail cell.

Other annoyances. That damn holograph. Kill it. The other team mate spying on Booth's girlfriend, dear lord are we in junior high? DB maintaining all of Angel's mannerisms right down to the irritated laugh when angry.

Good Points, yes there were a few. Zach, the only character to not quite annoy me yet. The flesh eating beetles, yes something that would be used. Having proper attire in the labratory. In your face CSI, it is possible to do.

[livejournal.com profile] a2zmom suggested looking at this as a non-romance ala Moonlighting or Cheers I see her point. My problem. I despised Moonlighting and the Sam/Diane thing got old fast too. I guess I like it done more subtly like Muldur and Scully (well subtle by comparison)

I'm not sure what this show would have to do to keep me watching for long.

I can't really watch any of the new shows with any of the BtVS or AtS cast in them, mostly because I like the Buffyverse characters more than I like the actors that played them. I think VK is the only exception to this, plus a few of the actors I knew in other roles before they came to the Buffyverse.

I also think the actors tend to make very poor choices when it comes to other roles. To be honest, DB's character outside of his disdain for forensic's isn't bad. He does a decent job, Angel mannerisms aside.

I'll be watching James M in Smallville but I already watch that even though I missed all of last year. Nicholas' new thing has no appeal to me, ditto Alyson's.

But I'm the type who likes to watch the stuff actors from my favorite shows, evenif it's not my stuff but there are limits (most of DB's movies for instance, Aly's too)

I will probably watch Smallville, because I watch it anyway (I rent it on DVD when it comes out), which is ironic, since I don't particularly care for JM or Spike, but that's part of the reason seeing him in another role doesn't phase me.

Whomever they are.

; )

(I know, I pay very little attention to the non-fictional aspects of my home entertainment)

John Schneider (Daddy Kent in SMallville) and Tom Wopat, the original Duke boys from the Dukes of Hazzard

I *do* like when they do that--pair up actors who used to play other roles together. People have been pushing for a Dean Cain bit-part on Desperate Housewives, for example.

Or like how Richard Hatch (name?? Apollo from original BSG) is playing this asshole terrorist guy on the new Battle Star Galactica. I find that amusing as well.

I usually like it too especially if there was existing chemistry with the actors (as with Cain/Hatcher)

Actually, what bothered me most about the last episode of Bomes was that it didn't occur to anyone that it might have been a murder and not a terrorist attack? It certainly occurred to me.

With the exception of "Homicide: Life on the Streets", I never look to closely at investigative techniques on cops shows, least they make me pull my hair out.

I think I saw about half of the first episode of Bones with Mom and I was asking her, "Does this seem plausible?" We both decided we weren't going to watch the rest of the series.

Besides, it's on opposite NCIS. And one of the other Davids is on there.

Watching for the characters, as usual. Could really care less what sort of forensics, etc. is going on. Though Abbie in her Goth wear in the lab is pretty...out there.
