We got lucky

cornerofmadnessToday was graduation. Today was also a big ass storm. With ill placed faith in mother nature they insisted on having it outdoors, which I don't actually mind as it is less stuffy/miserable than the gym. However it was so hot I couldn't clap my hands. It was just squishy and sweat splashing (who let the mermaid on land?)
It sprinkled about 2 minutes which put some pepper in their steps and we got through everything. I didn't linger to chat and barely made it to the science building before the sky cracked open. It was spectacular. A few slower faculty looked like they were thrown in a lake by the time they got back.
For some reason last night I miscalculated how long this all would take so I planned to come home before the picnic at 5. Yes I had time but like an hour and a half (I was off by an hour) I would have been better off taking the food with me and my clothes like I originally planned.
So the food was meant to be ready at 5. I get there at five after five and pretty much everyone else is there and done eating....Um...yeah great thanks. Guess who has a ton of tuscan bean salad left over and most of the fig/thyme crisps with cream cheese hot pepper jelly spread? SIgh. And L kept saying I'd have tried your food if I wasn't already done eating. Look they said dinner at 5. I'm here at 5. I'm a little annoyed that you all ate early but whatever. Others got there an hour after me one of which was an anime fan, brother to the Ochem prof who is too. Didn't know that but sadly he's leaving us.
My friend's home is pretty cool though, on a cattle farm (hey the brisket WAS good) I keep thinking I would love being out here. On the other hand, bet there's no internet. speaking of which I still have it but the storm knocked out my phone again. SIGH.
