First up was having to find breakfast for the first time since I've been here (it's been provided to me at the con). The hotel's place is ala carte but not overpriced but usually with that it's not much food. So I ordered with that in mind and there was so much food.

After that was Petroglyph National Monument. So it's my first time going outside of downtown Albuquerque but A. was right, they built right up to the monument with subdivisions. Depressing. BUT the monument is great. I could only do one part of one trail but it was supposed to have 100 petroglyphs. I accidentally reverse the map in my mind and parked on the wrong side (but okay as it was the only parking spot). I couldn't do the mesa trail because it's straight up and rocky. I walked the sandy trail to the cliff base and macgaw trails. Let me say this after walking up the rocky trails I am no longer afraid to go back to the Hocking Hills because dammit I DID IT. It was rocky and tough but I did it.

I also did a dumb. A rock had shifted over one staircase and like everyone else I crawled around it. Heard a noise in the knee that made me think yeah I'll regret this. And I'm like how you getting back DOWN. (the answer was, backwards hugging a rock). The petroglyphs I got to see were amazing and the water backpack dad let me borrow was very helpful.

From there I tried to get to the national history museum which was a trial as the road is out. I did finally make it. It was a very nicely laid out museum. I'm ridiculous about museum's flapping my hands like a toddler given candy. Mostly it was about dinosaurs but they had a space display and gems. I got to touch an ancient meteorite and at some point I lost my mind because a docent had a huge tarantula who kept raising her front legs to shake hands and I did it. She is hairy.

I went from there to Little Anita's restaurant, a local chain, very tasty cheese enchilida and chile rellenos the prickly pear margarita was only okay. And my credit card was declined...again

My last adventure was the aquarium and botanical gardens. The aquarium was small but very nice. It had jellyfish so I was happy. But it was 14$ for both this holiday. The gardens were very very nice. I mean wow. I didn't have time for it all. Inside one greenhouse a hummingbird had gotten in and she was busy. In the wedding arbor of flowering viny shrubs a porcupine had gotten in and was snoozing way up high.

They had all sorts of different gardens including butterfly (and a bug house), japanese, spanish, dragonfly, children's fantasy and a huge model train one. The only negative was I misstepped and nearly fell (I could see myself falling through the split rail fence) Luckily I caught myself but my knee isn't going to be happy about it.

Came home and yelled at the credit card people. We texted to ask you before we put a hold on the card. I had notifications off in the con and forgot to put them on. BUT the waitress was back in like 90 seconds. I asked them WHEN did you think I could have responded. You put a hold on almost instantly. I'm ON VACATION. can you stop? Frakking Capital One.

I went to another from the best of Albu list for dinner Cocina Azul for street tacos (shrimp) with beans (meh) and something I've not seen at the Mexican places back home (not surprising) fideos sort of thin pasta in a tomato sauce that was good. I need to stop buying cocktails without prices because again price of the meal. Watermelon margarita also not that tasty.

Then I backtracked to Old Town to go to the Sawmill Market as another prof said it was 'life changing'. If I thought the 505 Central Food hall was a bougie food court it has NOTHING on the Sawmill set in an old lumbar mill. WOW. I went to Neko Neko and had an ube soft serve with toasted coconut and a condensed milk drizzle served in a red bean filled takiyaki. Too much ended up on my shirt because I'm a mess but OMG SO GOOD. If I lived here I'd be at this market once a week.

I'm all packed up. I'll be heading to Carlsbad tomorrow. I'm not worried about the cave any more, cautious yes worried no.

I LOL'd at the 'do I look like a goat?'!

Sounds like a good day overall. I hope your knee was okay.

Man, some of those petroglyphs are gorgeous and charming.

What a decadent ice cream (I say, just after having come back from my own trip full of ice cream)! Did you know that 'ube' is the purple sweet potato flavor? (you probably did *lol*)

It sounds like you had so much fun. I love those petroglyphs and the porcupine.

I've always wanted to go to Carlsbad caverns. Can't wait to see what you think!

That looks so cool.

I think I went to Carlsbad once. Was that the cave system Jessie James hid in?

Ah, I just went and looked it up and I'm mis-remembering. Jessie James hid out in Meramec.
