I heard that scream this morning. It woke me up. I saw nothing. Was it a neighbor yelling at her dog (I saw no signs of violence and no other sounds were heard) Was it part of a dream I can't remember? I'm leaning that way but it was a disconcerting way to wake up.
Today is my day off. In the fall I have thursdays off. Thank god. I needed it today. I THINK all the online shit is fixed. Cross your fingers. I ran to the bank with an 1800$ check for doing steam camp. So far I'm hearing about how many kids loved it and want to do it again. You know what, that makes me feel good.
I got some writing done at the coffee house, got the meet-cute for my Gothic Romance. I also sat in on that Dacre Stoker talk. It was pretty good. On one hand we have someone who is bumping off a famous relative (He does write, how good he is...I read one book eons ago so what do I remember) on the other hand he is passionate about Bram (I have a Bram in class this year) He pointed out he is in the camp that Bram's mother who was an early feminist, leading the charge on women's rights and writing scientific papers including those on mental health, played a pivotal role in Dracula's inception and also pointed out how much cutting edge science Bram put in Dracula (I made these points in the vampire class I had to the prof's chagrin because she didn't like modern woman Mina)
But what really was great was a) Valentine Wolf's musical accompaniment b) that Dacre had access to Bram's notes, annotated study books, the typecast where it was crossed out here and there. I had no idea also that the Swedish and Icelandic books had the original preface which made it sounds more like a real event (but was deemed too dark for the British readers). I also liked all the place photographs from the book .
After that (by seconds) I went into the monthly thrills and chills writer's sprint zoom. Banged out another 1200 words on the novel which I had been ignoring. I am thrilled.
Ah Thankful Thursday -- I'm thankful to have the title to my SUV in my hands.
What I'm not thankful for is Wal-Mart clothing. Another swing and a miss. I mean THIS is cute as hell. And the colors are spot on but this so very Chinese sizing. It's about two sizes too small. Worse, I've seen better fabric in Halloween costumes. Oddly enough when I was looking for that cosplay skirt I found out that Walmart had a ton of steampunk skirts. I suspect a) they'll all be Chinese sizing b) be cheap cheap CHEAP fabric.
And you all were sharing all sorts of communities this week so I have some. A few are just doing sign ups, some are done and you can bookmark for next year, some are daily things.

It's great that the kids loved steam camp.
There are three brands I feel safe buying from Walmart (Terra Sky is the plus, Time and True & Athletic Works are the regular) and have learned that a 1X in the plus is a 2X in the regular. But I've been looking for cardigans for the winter and there's nothing in these brands and I'm afraid to try the others. (I like this one but I've been waffling.)

Thanks for that. GOod to know the decent brands. I like the sweater but yeah after getting repeatedly burned on the super tiny plus sizes....
