The Festival that wasn't

cornerofmadnessSo I was meant to meet people at the Athens Lunatic Asylum (work friends) for the Hills Have Eyes paranormal festival and pyschic fair. We were to meet at 3 pm. No problem works for me. I even had to go look up the address as I haven't been to the Ridges in at least 5 years. So I get there and I'm confused. Cars, check. vendor stands, uh...no, people outside the Ridges, no...
So I go inside and talk to the docent. The main kirkbridge building of the old asylum is now the Kennedy art museum for Ohio U. She sighs and says they canceled it last minute and did a poor job of putting it out on the social media. I'm like are you kidding me? I drove 40 miles for this! Sorry, I've been telling people this all day. Well, it's not your fault but I AM side eyeing OU (and I did come home and call them out for it on my socials)
Since I haven't been to the museum in a while and they have no permanent exhibits, I take the time to look at what was on offer. There were two I particularly liked. One of the curators paired two pieces, painted and something 3-D (not made by the same two people) and then had OU art students interpret how the pairings made them feel. I thought that was an interesting idea. The other was upstairs one that was more naturalist plant pressings than art but they had it done up with sounds of the forest as well and I enjoyed it. it also gave me a title I need to use in a The Owl House story, Gold Never Stays (from a Robert Frost poem)
I went to find the cemetery which is a sad place of nothing but markers with numbers no names. It was too steep and overgrown to attempt on my own this time (I have been before) BUT I realize in my upcoming novel I have it in the wrong spot. I can fix that with a sentence or two but I need to contact my editor asap.
And since I was in Athens I went shopping. Pickings were slim and Joann's Fabrics, I do think half the reason you're bankrupt is the insane cost of your product. Half price Halloween is still more than most places full price. Keep it.
I did get the good cheese and some sushi at Kroger and got a different pizza from Avalanche than my usual. Southwest Engine Delight, a southwest veggie pizza with tons of roasted garlic (yay) sundried tomatoes and spinach and..somehow I missed it, on top of the asiago bechemel was potatoes. Potatoes are bad for me (well so is pizza so let do one sin at a time). They were big and soft so when I came home and heated pizza up, I picked the potatoes off, chopped fine and fried hard and put them back on but then there was so many that I', keeping them until I can pull off all the taties and maybe I'll have eggs bacon and homefries for dinner.
Today's saddest part was at dinner I turned to grab my water, something snapped in my neck, my traps are in a spasm and I can hardly move my arm. Gah, getting old sucks.

Getting older does suck. I have a neck muscle that uses any excuse to seize up. Hopefully, it will pass soon.
