Somehow this day flew by with so very little done other than stocking up at Costco for the trip home. I'm utterly unprepared for the start of the semester and I could honestly not care. I'm going through the motions
in all things right now. I do need to pull up my submission files so I don't miss out on any open calls that sounds interesting while I'm sitting here numb. However in the good news department, people have REALLY stepped up for fandomtrees and only a handful are stuck with only 1 fill (I think all the zeroes are gone) and I have more gifts than ever before so thanks for that if you made me something!!

Okay how about some random facts about me:

I wrote my first fanfic after seeing Star Wars in the movies for my 10th birthday. It was shameless Mary Sue.

I joined my first group fandom in either 82-83 for Elfquest back in the paper zine days. By the time the 21st century rolled around I was in a few dozen holts with more characters than I could count/remember

I played in the Old Post Office in Washington D.C., a sax solo (In the Mood) for President Bush (the first)'s inauguration

I am diabetic with a condition that causes arthritis (in more joints than I want to name). Also have about three more chronic conditions along with ADHD and depression

I am a published author

I was a foot/ankle doctor specializing in wound care until a hand injury let me with nerve damage and ended my career.

I now teach pre-meds and nurses at a small rural college literally on Bob Evans's farm

I'm a multi fandom, multi shipper

I love to hike (as slow as I am) but haven't really been back out since I fell and destroyed my knee in 2021 (mostly because people who say oh yeah we'll hike with you, no problem either stand me up or don't want to go as slow as I need to go which is a bit disheartening)

I love travel and especially to see museums

I might be in my 50s but I still cosplay and love it

Three months ago I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. They believe they got all of it with the surgery but there is 5 years of wait and see to deal with yet.

I'm willing to help people hurt their characters realistically (just DM me)

That should be plenty of ice breaking there.

ha, okay fair. It's not hard to find the college down on the farm (and incidentally it's pronounced Rye-o Grand because Ohioans love naming their towns after other places but have NO idea how they're pronounced.

Very cool. It's a fun exchange but often we have several delays to it Honestly there are some truly unusual pairings in a lot of the fandoms which I think is part of the issue. So many of them I'm like LOVE that fandom ....and I'm 100% sure I can't imagine that pairing. You just hope someone can. (I'm writing a not-my-pairing right now but it's at least one that doesn't baffle me)

Ha, you're welcome. Yeah when they do the retro rewinds that song doesn't come up as much and to this day I still hate Raspberry Beret. It was never that great of a song and on my junior (h.s.) trip to Washington D.C. this girl had an entire 60 minute tape with NOTHING but that song playing on her boom box the whole way and no one stopped her. (and apparently they frown on murder on the bus...)

I had surgery in Aug 2021 -= so now I'm at the every year instead of 6 months level. Still a scary thing.

I love museums, too, especially art museums.

Yes it is because we all probably know someone who was clear and then at year 5....(literally one of my friends at work just 2 weeks before my diagnosis) Here's to happy endings for us both.

Museums are my joy.

Star Wars was my first fanfic too! I started after the third movie so I was about 13. I gave Han Solo a daughter... talk about Mary Sue. Then I went onto The Outsiders. I wrote them a sister which I thought was so out there. Then years and years later a tv show was developed and they introduced a young girl and while she wasn't a "sister" she became Pony's bestfriend and it was very similar to what I wrote. From then on I knew my fanfic ideas were not that stupid. LOL
