Not only was today the first day back to work (that went well) we also had two job interviews to conduct (they also went well) so it was a long day and made longer by yet another sugar crash late night.

It's only been a full week since my uncle showed signs of bell's palsy from his tumor. He's coming home tomorrow. Yes, tomorrow. He's regained function so fast post operatively that insurance says he's too good to be put in a rehab hospital so he'll have home PT....boy this sounds bad. (I mean great that he's doing so well but bad that so much could go wrong without supervision) the down side is he will be on chemo pills for potentially life and has to have daily radiation for like a month. yikes.

HR still hasn't gotten back to me on my question. Sigh. Well tomorrow I have time to deal with that.

What I Just Finished Reading:
Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree - loved this cozy fantasy. I mean I shouldn't. If this was contemporary fiction it wouldn't be my thing but in a fantasy setting....

El Deafo by Cece Bell a graphic novel memoir of being a deaf child in the 70s (and a good reminder to have your kids vaxxed against meningitis

Sleeping Beauties, Vol. 2 by Stephen & Owen King answers the question of can you boil at 720 page novel into 2 graphic novels. NOPE.

Talking to My Angels by Melissa Etheridge - I'll stick with her music, this was dull

What I am Currently Reading:

Ill-Fated Fortune: A Magical Fortune Cookie Novel by Jennifer J. Chow

Have You seen My Sister (YA mystery)

Cards on the Table by Agatha Christie

What I Plan to Read Next: The Reformatory and my vast list of Popsugar prompts

Re: meningitis, I have a friend who is completely deaf since his late teens due to meningitis. It was a difficult adjustment for him, but he manages well now. I don't believe the vaccine was available when it might have helped him. Also note, the vaccines are only effective against some strains of bacterial meningitis and not at all against viral meningitis.

Fortunately, he'd managed to make a good life. He works on helping coordinate support for deaf students (and probably others who need accommodations) at s university, I'd in a long-term relationship, and seems happy (except when his football team loses). But it took him a while to get there.

I read about the first third of Bookshops & Bonedust before I ran out of time and had to send it back to the library... I will eventually have to put another hold on it! (I've already read Legends & Lattes, so I pretty much know what I'm getting into)

I was a fast recovery PT-wise too, after my surgery I just got to go home- but I still live with my parents! They could look after me to a degree.

And then later when I had to have radiation every day for a month, I was so weak by the end of it... I mean, all the people in the radiation department were really nice, but that didn't make it any better.

I will keeping your uncle in my thoughts and prayers...

Yeah, I'm currently distracted by other books (definitely "The Encyclopedia of the Weird and Wonderful: Curious and Incredible Facts That Will Blow Your Mind" by Milo Rossi) and the final volume of Golden Kamuy (sort of the ending I thought it would get but even a bit better).

Oh, yeah, you're welcome.
