My story in this anthology is Annabelle Lee Escaped From the Sea and it was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's poem Annabelle Lee, only my Annabelle doesn't die (which is the theme of the anthology)

Anna Karenina Isn't Dead
Welcome to the rewritten Lives of Literary Legends!
From Russia's Anna Karenina to Vietnam's Lady Trieu, from Cio-Cio-San to Frankenstein's second creature, suffering, madness, or death is the fate of far too many women in classic literature. Anna Karenina Isn't Dead undoes that.

In this anthology of literary women, these women live. Do they have a happily ever after? You'll see. Do they have a happy-right-now? Oh yes.

These are the reimagined tales of the famous, the infamous, the barely mentioned women in myths, poems, and legends. These are the stories of the Lady in Black, Wendy Darling, Dido, and many more, each getting a better journey than the one she originally got.

Here Anna Karenina and her literary kin are not dead. Very far from it.

And with ONE day of Jardiance my sugar went from 350 to 180 which isn't great but at least I'm not on the verge of DKA and dying. ...

And I decided to start doing to fill the void left by me no longer doing tons of fanfic recs on friday

What is the name of...

1. Your favorite book? Yeah, answering this is impossible. It changes with my mood my ages etc. How about my favorite reads of 2023?

Murder by Degrees by Ritu Mukerji, a historical mystery about a lady doctor in the late Victorian period written by a female doctor (and since I am also a female doctor prepping to do a sabbatical on female doctors of the 1850s-1950s you can imagine my joy over this)

Together We Rot by Skyla Arndt, YA horror. This does deal with an abused teen trying to escape his circumstances so CW warning there but I loved the characters.

Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree, cozy fantasy, if you told me I'd fall in love with an orc trying to start her own coffee shop I'd have laughed but here we are.

The Night Eaters, Vol. 1: She Eats the Night by Marjorie M. Liu & Sana Takeda graphic novel, horror, amazing art, captivating storyline

2. Your favorite movie?

Same problem but this is a little easier. Star Wars (the original trilogy, all three of them. Adore them, seen them more than 100 times), We can ditto this for the Indiana Jones movies (well Raiders and Last Crusade at least), Ghostbusters if I want a laugh.

3. Your least favorite adaptation of a book to a movie?
I know a lot of people will pick the Percy Jackson ones (I didn't think the first movie was that bad of a movie just a poor adaptation) but I would argue that the early Stephen King adaptations were some of the absolute worst!

I thought Salem's Lot and The Shining were bad adaptations particularly The Shining (again, not a bad movie per se, but a bad adaptation)

For that matter, Interview with a Vampire was pretty bad too (Anne Rice railed against that thing hard)

4. Your least favorite adaptation ever of anything to a movie?

Almost any live action adaptation of anime but the Fullmetal Alchemist ones are particularly horrible.

I'm not the only one who thinks so, trust me

5. Your first ever novel/comic book/movie character crush?

Novel - Aragon & Legolas (13 y.o. me was convinced my first born would be named Aragon. 56 y.o. me laughs at the idea I was ever having kids)

Comic book - Johnny Storm (the Human Torch)

Movie - Han Solo

TV - Spock & Sulu
