well that doesn't bode well. I'm not sure I've read other stuff by Gillen. I can't tell you I'm afraid as I'm only on volume3 and I'm not sure the library has the rest. But so far it's really pretty good.
As for Something is Killing the Children, I have the library edition that bound up a bunch of volumes and then I have up until this hiatus...all unread, sitting in a box because I'm not even sure what I'm doing any more. I have quite a bit of house of slaughter and did the same with it. I'm not sure about this hiatus (or is a cancelation. I guess we'll see)
