So I had the compartment pressure test done today. To all my former patients that I sent for this, I'm SORRY!

I have a high pain tolerance but this was pretty bad. My doctor was wonderful. Kudos to him and his staff. He explained everything in simple terms (even knowing I would understand the complex ones), numbed all the areas of testing and then inserts this into the muscle belly. Why yes I AM big as a giraffe leg. and does all the muscle bellies (read five of them). The initial readings are High. Like double normal.

Then I go on the treadmill and walk til my leg is numb and we test again. So more needles right into muscles and the pressures went DOWN. What the actual fuck? He doesn't know either. He doesn't think it's an exertional compartment syndrome. He thinks my worst fears might be correct and it's coming from my back. You need another back MRI and another nerve conduction test.

Fun times. I talk to my doc on friday.

Did I mention this is bleeding like a bitch? Because blood thinners. So I go out of there swathed in coban and four by fours and painted in betadine. It's way too early for dinner so I skip Schmidt's also driving hurts so stop and go traffic to get there is a bad idea.

I do stop at the casino because booze + gambling = me. I double my money in twenty minutes and flee. I'm at a coffee house trying to decide where I want to eat because I've been in Chillicothe SO. Much (back again friday) that I'm bored with my usuals. Maybe smokehouse....

Ugh, that looks like it must be horrible! I'm glad it's over, though I do wish the doctor had had a definitive answer for you. I'm sorry to hear you need to have your back checked again now. Here's hoping whatever it is is easily remediable.

*wince* I generally don't mind being stuck with a needle (though I can't ~watch it going in), but that looks *shudder*

I'm sorry it didn't give you any answers after all that! I hope you get the MRI soon and that does give you answers.

Ouch, that does look really painful. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Hopefully, they will eventually find out what's wrong and how they can help you.

Yes, ouch. Although when I had the test done they didn't even have me do the walking part of the test because my results were SO high in all compartments with the first measurement. The doctor just went, yup, you've got chronic exertional compartment syndrome.

I'm sorry you didn't find the answer you were looking for and need more testing.

So much ouch. That is a very intimidating needle. I hope they get the MRI sorted out for you soon. Sorry you have to have more nerve conduction testing - those suck.

Yay for winning at the casino! At least something was a positive!
