I have a question for you all

Why is it fanfic is so much easier to write than original. And why, regardless of original vs fanfic, is it easy to write the things you're not meant to be writing but things you're on deadline for is like pulling teeth?

In other news my wipbigbang is nearly 26K and over 100 pages. Hold me.

Today I got some medical appointments moved around but the afternoon went to hell, after a bad morning of anxiety and dark thoughts. Got up to this video that gets me (and a lot of us)

I go to work to print out more research articles and...while I could get on my work computer without an issue, the browser (one of two) isn't working, the thru the computer phone doesn't think my email exists, my computer is divorced from the library's databases so I can use them, the person I needed to give the check to for the overpay isn't there and no one is sure who I make this out to...

I try to leave but my friend is there and he's a talker like me. I still try to get away but he's like SG wants to talk to you for advice. Me? She has breast cancer now (that is literally EVERY female scientist in this building with cancer now, 4 outta 4) I help navigate the lab report, gave her the name of my ob/gyn oncologist at Caball and highly rec him. I'm beginning to believe in curses.

For me, any writing is easier when there's not a deadline attached. I'm involved in exactly one exchange and I get hyped up for it, but when the time rolls around and I'm sitting there trying to put words to paper knowing that it's due in the next month/week/48 hours/15 minutes, it becomes a chore.

Without deadlines or expectations from others, I can write a 200 word piece on something that I like. I can post it immediately and get feedback. It's fun and freeing.

Also, fanfic has you working with already established characters and worlds instead of trying to build your own from scratch.

Yep I feel all of these, especially the last two. There is that ego boost getting kudos/comments and there is no heavy lifting with the world building. You just plug the characters in and go.
