We've all decided

That for my parents and at least myself, there isn't going to be viewings and big church services. My religious cousin was utterly scandalized by this. Too bad, this was all too much. The Catholic church was insanely hot. I did the reading. Made it through by never looking up from the book because if I could do that I could divorce myself from the proceedings.


It's not over yet. The burial is military and we're on their time schedule. That'll be tuesday.


More family drama this time, some people making it about themselves. Eye roll.


Others being utterly inconsiderate

The priest noticed my dress (covered in constellations) and asked me if I had ever been to Cherry Springs State Park. It's a dark sky area. I've never heard of it (I do have one in the hocking hills) but this is halfway across PA (200 miles, 4 hours) so that's a no. Ah well.


ETA - because this week isn't hard enough, nothing written yesterday saved. Lost the entire chapter. Fantastic.

I'm glad you got through the church service. I am of the same mind as you, re: viewings, etc. I say people should have a big party in a park somewhere, potluck, and blast the Metallica in my honor. ;-)

It's funny you mention Cherry Springs SP. T. and I were going to go there this summer for our annual vacation, but when I began trying to find an AirBnB last year and looked into the area to get a sense of things, I discovered that that part of PA is a neo-Fascist hotbed (as in actual Nazi-loving white supremacist types). Since I am gender non-conforming and T. is Asian, we decided to take a pass on spending a week in the middle of nowhere with Nazis. Go figure. ;-) That said, it is supposed to be spectacular at the park itself.

Good to know. Franky much of the Pittsburgh area is not much better. I was triggered as hell driving to that UFO festival, nothing but Trump signs everywhere. Back in OH we have someone next to the university has a nazi flag flying next to his trump banner (it's gone now and I think the village pressured him because they're building new homes and this guy is probably going to get bought out I hope).
