Once or twice a year the musical heritage and jazz heritage societies do a giant sale. This time the jazz sale has so many cd's under 4.50$ that I don't know where to start. (though when the sale happens, you never know WHAT will go on sale and it's a kick in the head to see something you just paid full price on three months ago selling for 4.24$)

Oddly the Madison police department has a big website...and yet manages to tell me nothing I need. Bookmarked it for later so I can scour it looking for contact info and see who investigates homicides (they have special units for drugs and gang, forensics and K-9 but nothing saying Robbery/Homicide or Major cases) It was easier to find stuff on guardian ad liteum's and works out beautifully. They consider university professionals adequate for guardians. Ben's mom is now one of the nurse instructors there... I still need to know how to go about getting confidential school records. I'm betting the police need more info than they have to get those opened. Then again when murder #2 happens, they might have enough circumstantial evidence to open it and see that Killian's been to several schools all of which had unexplained deaths...

Now I have this image of you doing the snoopy dance in my head. It's quite disconcerting.

Did you get any CDs that are particularly thrilling? I haven't been following the current jazz artists (I have over 3000 CDs, so I decided I never needed to listen to the radio again -- I hate listening to most radio personalities) but I might know some of the artists you've got.

It looks like you got some writing done. I don't think I'll get much today. I just got home from work and have to go out in a short while. There will probably be alcohol and uninteresting people involved so we'll see how I am when I get back.

I hate radio personalities too but I never stop listening because well I'm addicted to finding new music no matter how many hundreds of cd's I have.

I'm thinking of picking up Wynton Marsalis' Swet relase & ghost story

WeS Montgomery's Willow Weep For Me
Branford Marsalis' Scenes in a City

did you meet a lot of uninteresting people?

Well, I'm not big on the trumpet but if I'm going to listen to it, one of Wynton's classical albums would probably be my speed. Nothing beats great sax, though. Just ask any fanfic writer.

I'm not sure. I was to busy hanging in the corner and being uninteresting myself. This was a meeting/party for my husband's convertible club and I don't have much in common with most of them. Cars are for getting you from here to there and they should be driven not enjoyed! So says I.

yes I'm partial to tenor sax, and not just because I play it.

I'm actually into muscle cars. I probably like the club

I should probably make the effort to be more sociable. If you let them engage you in talk, however, they always ask questions about our convertible to which I don't know the answer. I don't want to know them and the conversations languish.

So far, no one there has seemed to have any of the same interests I have, so when I try to lead the languish just arrives all the earlier.

I usually make hubby go to the meetings by himself, but this one was more of a party.

Do you play professionally at all?

I played for Bush the first' inaugration but that was probably my last public outing. I'd be lucky to know where the mouthpiece goes

And yes not knowing anything about the cars or wanting to would make for a long long night

Wow. Did you manage to get any of that on tape? That would be something for the family archives.

I was on the news and Sen. Arlen Specter shook my hand. I still feel slimy (yeah I'm a big supporter of his...)

I doubt that the president even knew we were there. we played the Old Post Office. I contracted pneumonia from sitting out in the rain for the inaugration and had a 103 temp when I played. I remember doing 'In the Mood' and nothing else

I bet it wasn't really pneumonia. Probably something you caught from the Senator.

It's too bad you don't remember more. Even if the President didn't know you were there, you did - a day worth remembering.
