I did reschedule two of my appointments. One of which is tomorrow at 8 AM. Nope, this sucks and it feels pointless because I don't think this psychiatrist is doing me much good. My back procedure is now next monday but I have to go ALL the way to Circleville about 65 miles away. sigh.

I managed to knock my dexcom sensor off. Ugh. It didn't even last 10 days. I was hoping to stretch it to 14 days but nope. also these things are sore one day 1 but given the fact there's a big ass needle in your arm forever now that's not a surprise

So fannish 50, let's talk older fandoms. I want to talk about Buffy (which now also has a problematic creator but that's a talk for another time) I decided to do this one because Buffy was my first online fandom. This was my transition from paper zines to online, through the webrings, yahoo groups to all those geocity places. My stories were stored everywhere and yet I managed to lose most of them (especially the erotic ones) because those places tended to disappear without warning.

Thank god for FFN. Whatever we feel about fanfiction.net it saved many of my stories and I was able to recover them. I am slowly but surely putting my Buffy stories on AO3. Between Buffy and Angel (including both together as the Buffyverse) I have 187 stories. That's not all of them but it's a good number (feel free to ask for ones I think you might like). I still write a story or two for it every year.

However, the biggest reason I picked Buffy is the fact that it is SO active for a show that started 28 years ago and has been off the air for over 20. If you don't believe me check out su_herald look at how much new stuff is happening weekly (also they're looking for help. I don't have the spoons for it but maybe you do)

Someone on my flist just put together a Buffy discord but I can't remember who nor could I find it but if you want to drop your discord into the comments here, please do. Let's share the love for Buffy and her friends. They deserve it.

This made me do a double take... I still remember staying up late to watch the last episode, and when I casually mentioned it to a teacher the day after she was shocked I went to bed at 11PM. (I was in middle school at the time, and in Italy Buffy was airing at 10PM on Tuesdays.)

I didn't start with Buffy in the beginning because I was too busy starting my medical practice and didn't have time for TV.

It's always amazing to me the world wide appeal of some shows, like Buffy being in Italy.

I never really thought about how dexcom worked, but having a big ass needle in your arm permanently sounds like a big no for me. o_O

It's actually not a big needle. It's a small wire, thinner than most you normally see. Also there's a quick stab when you insert, but then honestly 98% of the time, I forget I have it on. It's super easy to apply also which is a plus for me. And you change it out every 10ish days.

Honestly finger sticks hurt a lot worse than the Dexcom. And I'm stabbing myself once every 10 days instead of 3-5 times a day. Win win to me.

Yeah it looks like beading wire. it's called a catheter needle. it doesn't really hurt unless you bang it on something
