Now I've known this about student loans. When I first moved here I would go into panic attacks just seeing something from them in the mail. and you knew there was going to be zero help from customer service so upon seeing NEITHER of my loans had the income based repayment plan put on them automatically as I was assured would happen I called today after pulling up the email from August 14 at 2:03 in the afternoon.



Federal Student Aid (FSA, should stand for fucking stupid assholes) - I can't help you, you need to contact your loan providers

Me - whoa, no. Why? They didn't fail to process the paperwork you guys didn't SEND the paperwork. Explain to me why.

FSA - That's the loan providers issue

Me - no, it's not. Look, I couldn't use your damn webpage in august to put in the IBR and when I spoke to FSA they assured me that it would happen automatically and sent me an email to that affect. Explain why it didn't happen and proceeded to read chapter and verse from the email.

FSA - (she's now desperate to get me off the phone and it wasn't happening) I don't know why it didn't happen but we were having problems with the income based repayment webpage from June to August

Me - um...it took the federal government 3 months to attempt to fix this and with NO notification to loan holders? Yeah that tracks. Look, just tell me why your system failed to do its job and what do I do now.

FSA (haughty now) We agents can't even see if you have an automatic renewal so I can't tell you.

Me - Really Gia? Either you or Lashonda in August LIED to me. So which is it? Because I was distinctly told I had automatic renewal which according to the email I was sent would happen on the due date. (fun fact, it didn't)

FSA -Well if she had you check your settings she'd be able to see the renewal setting.

Me (ah so you just didn't want to do your job and lied to get me off the phone). Well let me open the settings right now. Oh look, I DO have automatic renewal. SO explain to me WHY it didn't work and what do I do now

FSA- you'll have to resend the paperwork.

Me - (shrieks they'll hear on the moon) Fine, you stay with me because last time it didn't work.

I get it to go through and just as I hit submit she says 'did you send it new or use managed payments?' I don't know. Whatever you just said to do which is probably the wrong thing and then I see it

Me - well shit (I did say that) it went to Navient and that's no longer my loan holder. it's Mohela

FSA - oh, that's fine it'll go to Mohela. We just haven't replaced that on the system

Me - that was nearly 2 years ago....

So in theory the paperwork went in. Almost 6 weeks after when I first tried. I'm going to owe big numbers until it goes through (provided trump's congress doesn't eliminate this like they want) And then FSA sends me a survey. How did we do? I couldn't one star it with huge write ups fast enough.

Ugh! Why is customer service so very unhelpful?!!! I'm glad it went through. I hope you don't have to do any more fixes on it.
