Because not a lot of interesting things happened today.

Let's talk fannish 50 and this time it's all about the last episode of The Amazing Digital Circus.



I readily confess it. I was not sold on this until Episode 3 which is still mostly my favorite. But this is a close second.

Caine losing his crap was amazing to watch. Alex Rochon, his VA, doesn't have a lot of credits but after this I hope that changes. He nailed it. This was everything I wanted in Caine coming undone. They even effortless referenced the source material (I have No Mouth and I Must Scream).

Unlike AM, Caine is sympathetic. He is trying. He wants to understand them. He wants them to be happy. He has no hope of understanding them. He has narcisstic traits. He can't lose them. He can't love them. He's doomed from the start.

Now what the hell is Bubble? I thought all along he was a virus but maybe he's what's left of Abel. He was equally as creepy as Caine.

Gangle! Okay, I've never been much interested in her (I don't dislike her b ut she's not my top pick by a long shot) But here we see her doing one of the more important things any of them has done. She makes a choice to not let Jax's past behavior to make HER mean. She offers forgiveness and he needs to hear that. She disarmed Zooble's attack and turns her around on Jax and she also saves Zooble from her own spiral.

But Pomni does the thing that needs doing. She plunges Kinger into darkness and we get the lore dump of all lore dumps.

It's needed since this is the penultimate episode. Caine is now willfully torturing them and if they're going to be stuck in this digital circus, they need it to be easier than it is. She's hoping to at least nerf Caine a bit not expecting what the fans have theorized for years.

Kinger helped to make Caine. Seeing Queenie and Scratch was great and we learned one thing that could have been a catalyst for Caine going AWOL, killing Abel and forming the circus. I've expected Kinger was the programer since even before he made that butterfly for Ragatha. I never suspected Scratch had a brain tumor and might have been searching for the singularity.

And that Bubble forced Kinger to delete Caine is a hill I'll die on.

And we don't know how long it took for everyone to abstract but there is the possibility looking at date stamps that Kinger was alone in the circus from 1999 until 2009 when Ragatha appeared. No wonder he's insane.

Jax! Omg, it's very clear now he was such a jerk to everyone because he didn't believe this was real. When he learned he truly is trapped in the circus, that this is not some long dream, he freaks the fuck out.

I'm wondering who will escape. I am thinking, honestly, only Pomni. If this is modern day then Ragatha has been in the circus nearly 20 years. Is her body around? Jax was on the run from either an abusive situation or maybe hitting a child with his car. How did he even get in there? We might never know.

I definitely think if they all do get free it'll be because Kinger sacrifices himself.
