what am I doing wrong

the good news, I've almost excavated my office (i am the definition of chaos) and the grades are in.

the irritating news, I can't figure out my friend's filters. I want smut_69 to be like the 50bookchallenge because it's way too posty for me (one person post 31 ficlets yesterday. I counted). I figured it would be simple. Go to edit friends filters and just put smut_69 "in group" with 50bookchallenge which doesn't show on my flist at all unless I purposely go to the site. that's what I want to do with smut_69. Well...moving the smut into the filter I'm using with 50books via the 'in group' thing did NOT work.

So, if anyone can tell me how to make it so I never see the smut_69 on my usual flist I'd be appreciative. I'd rather not have to scroll through multiple posts. When I want to read them, i can just go to the site.

Don't ask me. I just scroll through all the ff10 posts. (I keep them a different color than everything else, so it pops right out at me.)

As well as adding it to the other group, you need to remove it from your default group. Until you do that, it'll show up on both :-)

With groups I want to post to but not see on my flist, I join the group, but don't friend the group.

this sort of didn't give that option or something. I know you told me how to filter it out once upon an eon ago. This is an invite only group so I can't defriend it and rejoin easily

Defriending is different from joining. You don't have to unjoin to defriend.

(1) Go to Manage Friends
(2) Click on Edit Friends
(3) Scroll down to Delete?
(4) Click on the box next to smut_69
(5) Scroll down to "Save Changes" button and click.

When you join a community, it's like them friending you. So you can unfriend them without being unfriended BY them.

Another way to avoid seeing the messages without unfriending them:

(1) Go to Manage Friends
(2) Click on Edit Custom Friends Groups
(3) Click on "Default View"
(4) Click on "Smut_69" in "In group"
(5) Press arrow key to have it appear in "Not in group"
(6) Press "Save Changes" button

I dropped by that community. I think the non-stop drip, drip, drip of someone else's idea of porn in my friend's list would drive me completely bonkers. But then, I don't really get the glut of fanfic porn to begin with, so.....
