Friday the Thirteenth

These are usually good but weird days for me and yesterday was no different. It started off with a 100 point drop in blood sugar to a nice normal range. I got a ton of stuff up on my faculty web page and it was 70 degrees (21 for teh rest of the world). It was gorgeous. I played with the outdoor cats. I got some movies from the library including an old favorite of mine The Name of the Rose
Then it began to rain. The outdoor cats cries all night for me to let them in (I'm not allowed and I have no facilities for the poor things) Then it started snowing. Yes, it went from 70 and shorts to me needing snow boots.
Phone conversations with my parents went like this.
Dad: how you doing tonight?
ME: better than yesterday which is the long night.
Dad: so you get done at 9pm right?
Me: no dad that was last semester. I'm done at 2:20
Dad: when do you start?
ME: 8:30
Dad: pause...you get paid for this?
I then proceed to tell him about a dream I had that morphed from me being with the guys from Numb3rs to him mom and a passle of teens being with me in a strange hotel that we were fleeing from but he was on Canadian Crutches because of his leg injuries (?? don't ask, Dad's fine). We managed to get outside but he fell down and the zombies got him. Mom was trying to go back for him but I wouldn't let her. I kept screaming get in the SUV and drive. It's too late. Meanwhile the zombies are folding and spindling Dad.
Dad: so, now I know where your loyalties lie
Me: yep Dad, when the zombies come and you fall down I am SO not rescuing you.
he hands me off to mom
Mom: so you cleaning the apt. this weekend.
Me: yes I am. I have three days.
Mom: Why?
Me: I'm off on MLK day
Mom: You get paid for this?

Um...now look...now look, mate, I've definitely 'ad enough of this. That parrot is definitely deceased, and when I purchased it not 'alf an hour ago, you assured me that its total lack of movement was due to it bein' tired and shagged out following a prolonged squawk.
Well, he's...he's, ah...probably pining for the fjords.
Hee! It doesn't get funnier IMHO
