curious and open for suggestions
Jan. 20th, 2006 09:03 pmNo, it's not as lewd as it sounds. Been working up writing soundtracks (does anyone else do this) and I was talking to
southernbangel ,
sarakat and
evil_little_dog about it. I'm looking for angsty songs about two people in love not being able to be with each other. They pointed out that of course B/A people do have reams of material in this realm but a lot of it is sappy.
I'm not looking for sap. I don't do sap but I am interested in what people would think make a good song to write to that would invoke those feelings. So, if you have a good angsty in love but can't be together not too sappy song, tell me about it, regardless of genre. And if you know where I can hear snips of it let me know that too since my library does not carry any music so I can't get a hold of things easily. Thanks. This ought to be interesting.

Date: 2006-01-21 03:53 am (UTC)I have a bunch of songs, only a few of which I know where you can get snippets, but if you know the song/album/band then you could probably go on amazon or chapters website and hear them.
"Shy" by Epperley. You can find some samples at the bottom here (http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000000P6O/qid=1137811391/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_0_1/701-2444662-8226753)
lyrics (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=3530822107858547494)
For these next ones, I'm not sure, they're messy, complicated and fucked up, just like I love them. Wouldn't be classified as their typical "love song" at all. I'm a Bush fangurl, so here you go:
From the Golden State Album:
"Headful of Ghosts" "Inflatable" and "Float" can both be found here (http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005OWIT/qid=1137811458/sr=1-29/ref=sr_1_2_29/701-2444662-8226753)
(Float may be iffy, but I love this song lol)
From Sixteen Stone (music clips here (http://www.bush-music.com/listen_sixteenstone.html)
"Glycerine" is my all time fave song. I love the contradictions in this song, it makes no sense..yet it makes all the sense at the same time.
"Comedown"
From “The Science of Things” music clips (http://www.bush-music.com/listen_scienceofthings.html)
“Letting the Cables Sleep"
"40 Miles From the Sun"
I really find that by merely reading the lyrics (which are pretty angsty and intense) you might get a good feel of the song, as I said before not your typical love song, but I get that sense of longing and desperation when I listen to them, I think about B/A at its worse and most intense.
Instead of giving you a whole bunch of links, here's (http://www.songmeanings.net/artist.php?aid=99) a list of links to the lyrics of these songs (hope they're all there)

sorry, there used to be a section on their site with samples, but they're in the process of cleaning house, so there are a few broken links.

Date: 2006-01-21 04:35 am (UTC)Fate isn't on TttW, it's on a short length one, but it aired at the beginning of "Halloween" when Buffy is late for her date with Angel, if you want to hear it. :)
No prob, I listen to a lot of songs because I like to use lyrical applications on my graphics.
