Well I've gotten back from the eye doctor. See this is why I hate going to the doctor, they always find something wrong. Of course I knew something was wrong. It was even the two things I thought were wrong.
A) the prescription in my right eye was too strong (I said that but the eye doctor in WI insisted....)

but more problematic

B) the contacts have ulcerated my corneas. Yep, big freaking ruts worn straight through both eyes. Argh. So it's a week without contacts (minimium), antibiotics and then the thrill of finding new types of contacts.

BUT on the plus side, as far as diabetes is concerned my eyes are in pristine shape and I haven't gotten any blinder as far as my vision is concerned so yee-haw.

well, as least some good news.

Have you ever been to a decent doctor? I wonder sometimes.

and it's really good news, to be truthful. The ulcerated corneas can be healed. Diabetic damage can not

Ulcerated corneas sounds.....incredibly gross.

Good news on the diabetes front though.

luckily being clear and all, you can't see the damage in my eyes (they look a little blood shot) but it does hurt...

Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. I can't imagine trying to teach in perpetual pain and stress. Hope the situation improves soon. And although OUCH to even the idea of ulcerated corneas, good news on the vision front.

Hope your semester is going well so far. I still can't get my freshmen to take notes, but why would my advice to write things matter? I'm just the teacher. *headslap*

(shudder) One more reason to avoid contacts like the plague.

the way I see it this has happened ONCE in 20 years (compared to various damages I've had done with glasses) so I'm not too put out with it. In less than 24 hours I've nearly killed myself twice with these damn glasses (I have NO peripheral vision in them)

Very happy the diabetes portion of your site is stellar. At least the damage from the contacts seems fixable... or at least treatable.

yes it's fixable and I won't be stupid with my contacts again
