Once Upon a Time drabbles

Wow, I really ran out of time this week for drabbling. Did manage to get in a few though.
Once upon a time, a vampire was told he was going to get the chance to live a new life, one of sunlight and warmth, of doing all the mundane things humans took for granted. He signed that chance away and for what? Mostly to get duped again.
So it went to someone else, this little prize. Maybe he just wanted it more, only it wasn’t what he had been expecting. After having such power, becoming so frail was too much. Angel looked at William’s casket, wondering how much suicide had hurt? Maybe being passed over wasn’t so bad.

Those once upon a times stories had something in common, mom tended to be dead. Children were left at the hands of wicked step-mothers and heartless aunts and uncles. Dawn had always wondered why fairytales were so harsh. Maybe she was living a fairy tale now.
Everyone talked about fairytales like they were something good, somehow ignoring all the pain behind them. Dawn knew pain. Mom had been gone for some time now and then to lose Buffy. Dawn glanced over at Tara and Willow and thanked her lucky stars she had been sent to live with the good witches.
Connor -in Quor-Toth - The Fairytale
Earth was like something in a once upon a time story to Steven. He had heard so much about it, how wonderful it was that he couldn’t help doubt its reality. He couldn’t fathom why Father would lie about such a thing.
Their days were too long and too hard most of the time to hear stories, but sometimes, at night, Father would regale him with those tales. Steven couldn’t help but dream about the place, of what he would do when he got there, the things he would see. It would be wondrous. After this, they deserved something beautiful.
