not being a good week
Feb. 1st, 2006 10:46 pmFound out the bank thinks I spent 5,000$ in the last 6 weeks since I'm now overdrawn...um I know I paid off a lot of bills but not THAT many. Need to go get on line and look at the account.
And then student loans called me a 8 pm and asked for their money. I said you aren't reasonable with your payment options so guess what I'm not paying you. There. I finally said it. Years of dodging and it comes down to this. I didn't want to default. I tried very hard to avoid it. I said what's the best you can do. They said 1200/month. I said that's over half my salary. I'd be living in my car. Do better. They said no. I said, fine draw up the default paperwork. They said no. WTF? Default me and garnish my wages. They can't do it until I'm like really really late with payments. Smash head on floor. I'm TELLING them I'm refusing to pay. Do I need to make it clearer. Do they need to come here and squeeze blood from the stone first? Just take me to court and garnish my wages. I'm NOT paying you unless you cut that payment by over half. They said they'll make a note in my paperwork that I can't pay and they'll keep calling until I do.
Faking my own death, here I come.

Date: 2006-02-02 07:20 am (UTC)Why not try contacting the lenders personally, talking with a rep, and seeing if you can arrange re-payment with lower payments. It's in their interest, since they'd be getting some money rather than no money.
You can also contact (can't recall the name, sorry) a Not-For-Profit financial counseling agency that will help you to arrange lower payments.
Alternatively, you can declare bankruptcy -- for this I think you need to go to legal aid and get a lawyer.
Good luck on this.
