A Simpler life drabbles

Giles - the 70's - Duty
Giles’ eyes were tired and his wrists actually sore from propping up thick tomes. He was weary of deciphering heavy prose in long dead languages. He hadn’t seen the out of doors in so long he’d forgotten what it looked like....okay, maybe not the out of doors so much as the clubs. Being a Watcher sucked.
He knew why he couldn’t. Every time he thought about it, Eyghon rose in his memories. Giles knew why he was here now but he couldn’t help the longings. When had magical orgies, rock and roll and drugs become the simpler life to him?
Cordelia - AtS S1 - Longing
She didn’t know she could be this hungry or life could be this hard? Cordelia had thought true struggling had been her job in that high end clothing boutique in Sunnydale. She had no idea. Raman noodles had become her friends. Roaches, so big they were scarier than some demons she had met, scurried through her apartment. Mildew and mold were more at home her than her.
Her dreams were dying in L.A. Acting was harder than she thought. All Cordy wanted was her simple life back, Daddy’s money and queendom of Sunnydale High. She knew those days were gone.
Connor - S4 - Eternal Darkness Blues
He glanced around at the dark streets, seeing decay every where he went. Even with the sun gone, maybe forever, not everyone had fled the city. They were staying to fight for their homes and on one hand Connor could understand that. On the other, seeing the human evil rising in the dark, the burglars, the rape gangs, the steady flow of misery, Connor found himself preferring the vampires.
And troubles in his own house, not fitting in there, his again-evil father, it made Connor long for Quor-Toth. He knew his place there. He fit in. Life was simpler.
