Differential Diagnosis

That's what it's called when House writes that list of possibilites on the white board (in case anyone's ever wondered). I've been running through the possibilities of my own differential diagnosis as to the horrid taste that won't leave my mouth. It started two weeks ago. Two weeks before that I started two new medications, a new toothpaste and put out poison for the mouse
A. it's not the tooth. I went to the dentist. The amalagm is fine, no infection on x-ray and nerves are intact
B. not the pills that the pharmacist is aware of.

So, I took away the open poison just in case it's sublimating (i.e. going from solid to gaseous form) THAT could cause this and it honestly did seem worse at home than at the office. Let's see if that helps

I might buy new toothpaste too. Maybe I'm allergic to something in Crest's vanilla expressions (which was on sale, hence me buying it. I don't recommend it, it tastes like brushing your teeth in that icing that comes with the pillsbury rolls, and that's just wrong....)

If it doesn't clear up with these two modifications, I'll call the doc

Might be the sweetener, I think they're the only ones that use sucralose (in combination with Saccharin, how sweet does that stuff have to be?).

i have no idea. I'm allergic to just about EVERYTHING colgate puts out to the point of it ulcerating my mouth. I might switch to baking soda until I can get back to the store

[nod] I get nausea and sometimes worse from all of the mass-market stuff I've tried. This stuff is good (http://www.pearlriver.com/v2/FramesSearch.asp?search=toothpaste&btnSearch.x=0&btnSearch.y=0&btnSearch=GoSearch) and cheaper than something like Tom's, especially if you can find it locally at an Asian market or dollar store.

Hard to tell without being able to read chinese. I can pick out that there's ginger, and that there's no flouride, sweeteners or SLS. I'll try to remember to bug the pharmacist next time I'm at the market.

What is it with vanilla all of a sudden? I bought a scrumptious vanilla body lotion just today. It smells just like sugar cookies. As cookie-deprived as I've been lately, there's a very real possibility I'll eat myself in my sleep tonight.

Seriously, I hope removing the mouse poison takes care of the taste problem. I was only half kidding when I suggested arsenic poisoning.
