being female and the writing thing

I rarely go girlie but when I do it's more like a full on attack on womanhood. Maybe it was the spilling of the coffee into the gear shift or the car door slamming shut on my face today but I got kicked into the girlie thing. Got out my new shirt, pressed the robin egg blue silk shirt, bought two pairs of new sandles (blue leather and black beaded) and painted my nails (fingers and toes) in OPI's Greece Blue Me Away. Even dug out the toe ring (then remembered the doctor's appt tomorrow, well he can just live with it). I matched my skirt, shoes, shirt and toenails. This is so amazingly girlie I want someone to slap me.
On the other hand, I can't seem to come up with female characters! I've started a new short story (as a tester for a novel I guess) about a young psychopomp who's just angsting me into depression the little bastard. When I get it done, I'll share it with anyone who cares to take a peek.
ETA - LJ is being dickish again and links aren't working. if you're desperate to see that color just grab the link when it tells you page can't be displayed and paste it in a new window.
ETA - Link is fixed. Thanks
