So I saw the gastroenterologist today since my stomach is getting way worse (more than ten years ago they wanted me to have some surgery on it to tighten up the cardiac valve which allows all the food in my stomach to come back for surprise visits and I refused). I know that I'll have to have this done eventually.

Without even thinking hard or playing around, he doubled my Nexium (whoo hoo that's 360$ a month now) and i'm going in for minor surgery in two weeks, they're going down to look and see what else is up with my stomach. Sigh.

and Roy the cat knows where I sit in this house and has learned to cry under the window for me. Today, he's back wtih the big fluffy grey cat who hates him. Now I'm feeding them both. head desk.

not particularly no, but it's an evil I know well. I've been treating for it for 26 years now

Hopefully the minor surgery will find a better solution than major surgery. Sorry your meds are so expensive now.

thanks. I know the major surgery is inevitable. I've probably put it off too long as is. This is more to be sure I haven't ulcerated or cancerated my esophagus

Cardiac valve? I think you must mean pyloric valve. As far as I know, the cardiac valves don't have anything to do with food in the stomach. In any event, I wish you good luck with your surgery, and hope you feel better.

no the cardiac valve is the top valve between stomach and esophagus. Pyloric is between stomach and duodenum. thanks.

Ah, I was thinking of aortic, mitral, tricuspid...forgot about that valve, if I ever knew what it was called. Physiology was a long, long time ago.
I stand corrected, and less confused now.

Yes, I figured you were thinking what the hell do mitral valves have to do with the stomach. Don't worry, i'd have forgotten it but I just put digestion on the final for my anatomy students!

Oh no!! Surgery?!? I know you said minor but still, surgery is surgery. Thoughts and prayers are with you, honey.
