Mom Drabbles
May. 14th, 2006 02:19 pmhappy mother's day to all the mom's out there.
Wesley post BtVS S3 - Needful
He never understood why Mother stood by her husband, through the hurtful looks and the bruises. She always had an excuse ready for the times Wesley turned questioning eyes on her. She tried to shield him sometimes from Father. Sometimes he shielded her but he never bought her excuses of Roger was just under too much stress. There were times it felt like she was his only friend. He loved her. His mother always made him feel better when no one else could so he called her the moment he got the news.
“Yes, baby?”
“They fired me, Mummy!”
Connor & Angel post NFA - Remembrance
He dutifully called the woman who thought she was his mother as she was leaving for her mother’s day spa trip then he sulked in his dorm, missing his mom. He didn’t even have a grave to visit.
The knock on the door surprised him. Angel stood there, cigarette in hand to help hide the curls of smoke rising from his sun-touched body. “Dad?”
“I wanted to give you this but I kept playing with it.” Angel held out the wrapped square. A pencil portrait of Darla stared up at Connor. “She’s always with you, Son.”
“Thanks, Dad. I needed this.”
Angel - Post NFA - Thinking Back
Looking back, when he was a teen, he had always been disappointed that his mother had never stood up for him to his father. He had resented how much she doted on his sister, even though he adored the girl himself.
Now he understood her so much better. She was woman of her time. It was unheard of for a woman to stand up to her man. Maybe that’s what had been so alluring about Darla. His mother had done her best and now he knew just how hard it was to raise a teenaged son. “Sorry, Mom, so sorry.”

Great work.
