Seriously, today was a bad day to be in my orbit. I couldn't sleep. Then i managed to use the spoiled milk I was saving for lab tomorrow to make my eggs this morning so ended up eating bread for breakfast (and my sugar was already bad). I get to school and my printer is still not working. My secretary informs me that this is because the computer people in their infinite wisdom have decided that we professors can't print in the computer labs any more and I have to send my print jobs to the secretary's office (i hate this idea), never mind that it's in a different building from me. She calls to get this done and to snag me CC's printer since she's moved to TX.

I go to class. Realize I don't know where it is. Find it and I really do have only two students. One informs me she's going away on vacation until next week (this is a 5 week course) Lucky for her she's had this intro stuff with me TWICE already so...

I go back to my office and try to print to the secretary's office. Nope I have no user name. I try to print to the one in my office (which really can't handle power point documents which is 90% of what I print). It won't print. You hit print and it saves it. To where I have no idea but it won't print. It thinks it's a hard drive that needs to save things. Head desk. I give up and try to find articles on Ohiolink our big intrastate electronic journal repository. I have no user number.

Ticked, i head to the secretary with my print jobs on my flash drive. She tells me my user name for the printer. We try entering my faculty number into Ohiolink but I'm not a registered user (hey I've only taught here a year now) we get that started but can't finish it since something's missing from HR. I go back to my office to print now that I have the user name. STILL won't print. Back to the secrertary's office I start photocopying the labs while she tries to find someone to help with this.

That's when she says, you know NO printer from your building has EVER been able to print here (god just put me back in the computer lab next to my office already people). I start to sob as we move through the print jobs on my flash drive. Which suddenly stops working. We have to reboot the computer. We get up the two power points. The computer freezes. Reboot. Get them up but they won't allow us to print. Secretary orders me out of the office before it blows up. It's now 3:30 pm. I was done teaching at 12:30.

I go home. Sugar is still wonky. Call mom and catch her during dinner. I apparently fall asleep while putting the phone down. I find it later under the couch. In the mean time I fall off the couch and hit my head on the stone end table. At this point I'm almost afraid what will happen when I go into the kitchen to cook.

Love the salamander. It's a big one. Florida is supposed to be full of salamanders/newts/sirens, but in all the years I've lived here I've never seen one. It took exactly three days for frog eggs to appear in the new pond I set up for the water lily, though. Yes, the new pond is now full of wogs (and the original wogs are still in the old pond. They're nearly a year old now, and still not a trace of legs. I despair.)

Love the salamander. Atty's kids brought home a toad today for the terrarium. Atty thought I'd be frightened but I said, "Can I name it Kermit?"
