I'm insulted. No, really I am. I thought about doing the Sylvan Training centers just to get the teaching experience. They pay EIGHT dollars an hour. Hello, my file clerk job pays that. They cry about not getting qualified teachers well maybe you should pay them more than what they could make at Subways.

granted this is just supplemental pay for most teachers but think about it, you've taught all day and now they want you to teach at night too for 8/hr. I'm going to Daytona Beach and apply for the desk clerk jobs at the hotels. It ain't teaching but it might pay the bills

I've seen tutoring gigs hit around $30/hr here. Depends a lot on which subject it's for...

Mind you, I'm too honest to fill such a role in my field. I tend not to hold my tongue when someone is incapable of thinking in the proper fashion to get anywhere writing code.

Yeah the adjunct teachers are about 30$/hr. that's a little more in line with what should be paid.

Ever consider becoming a librarian? If you can get on at a library, most of them will pay for you to get an MLS, and there's a HUGE need for them right now. You'd make a great research librarian. :)

Like I said it's just an after hours thing for most teachers but still, that's insulting given the amount of work involved.
