Five Times Buffy Sleeps With Connor and Thinks of Angel

1.
She didn’t know who he was the first time they screwed. Dawn had called her about the obviously not quite human boy at her college. Vampire, demon, Dawn didn’t know. It was only weeks after learning Angel and Spike had died and Buffy wanted to hurt herself. She should have known they needed her. She deserved whatever she got and demon lover to hurt herself with sounded like the ticket.
Pretty blue eyes and a predator smile wasn’t what she expected and Connor’s kisses reminded her so much of Angel. As their bodies clashed, Angel filled her head. She missed him so much. Later, when the truth came out they both got sick.
2.
The second time they came together, it was like a head on bush crash. Connor, furious at his father for not talking to him about the things that had matter to the vampire. Buffy, pissed that Angel could keep something as important as a son from her. All that fury exploded into amazingly hot, nasty sex that she never wanted to end. The only thing marring it was she could almost see Angel watching over them and she knew he wasn’t pleased. It filled her head all through the sex, no matter where inside - and on one occasion outside - the house it took them. Buffy remembered Angel angry and somehow that just added to her ardor.
3.
The third time she met up with Connor it was the first anniversary of his father’s death. She didn’t remember much about that night, really. An Irish bar, lots of strong dark beer and memories bubbling up in time to all the melancholy Celtic music.
Angel surrounded them that night. Sex had been a bad idea but too much Guinness and not enough sense smoothed the way. The sex had been awkward and forgettable. Just another night of being with Connor and thinking of his father. And she had called vampires monsters once.
4.
It was supposed to be a happy time. Her friends actually approved of Nick, her nice Watcher and now brand new fiancee. She had what everyone thought she should have, a normal man looking at an almost normal life with a wedding band, a home and who knew what else.
Later Faith would confess that she knew Buffy would run, that she liked the darkness too much. And Connor was that, dark, powerful, dangerous. Just under his mask of civility was a primal savageness, something Nick couldn’t even hint at. This time Angel was in their bed looking at her with such disappointment that she wept against Connor’s shoulder afterwards.
5.
Her hips rocked gently against his as she rode Connor. His fingers rolled over her rounded belly as they made love. She never expected to become a mom. Usually her choice in lovers didn’t lend itself to that sort of thing. Despite Connor’s fears, the pregnancy was ever so normal. This time, when Angel invaded her mind, she thought for once he was smiling at her. For the first time in years, Buffy felt at peace.
