my weekend in a nutshell
Sep. 24th, 2006 01:40 pmTaking a break from test writing. Never ever put 4 exams within two days, COM, or you won’t remain sane. That’s one of the reasons I’m quiet this week. The other reason is that with those who usually YIM me gone, I’ve taken the time to be concentrating hard on writing (those in my prompt communities will attest to this). So it’s been productive.
Things I’ve done: write exams. Boring. Went to the Jackson Apple Fest also boring. Once again it’s nothing but three blocks of food vendors, a half dozen booths that promised to save my soul if I joined their brand of Christianity (not interested, save someone else, thanks) and carnie games and rides. Why is this a big deal? I only went because I was there washing clothes and it was just a few blocks walk so....I did get to talk to the historical society which was nice
Other than that, it’s been slow here. Rainy and cold. And I have tv thoughts to share finally
House - Umm...okay color me unimpressed, seriously. And if the TV guide’s returning favorites is right, I’m not even sure this will remain on my list. In fact it’s already been moved to me remembering to catch it on USA reruns (a week behind) on Friday at 11pm. I’ve lost all sympathy for all these characters
NCIS - What I’m watching instead of House and it’s not much better. I don’t like Tony pretending to be Gibbs. I never did like Gibbs or Davide (however she spells that). Don’t know if Gibbs is back or not, don’t care. Still I adore Abby and McGee and Ducky so they’re worth it. The premiere was uninspired
Law and Order - CI - Okay the new captain better settle down or I’ll be irritated. I hate the stereotype of the bad boss riding the detectives. Again, other than the twist with Eames I wasn’t overwhelmed by the premiere
Law and Order SVU - TV guide’s returning favorites promises more about the personal lives of Stabler...I don’t want that. I watch L &O because it usually avoids the soapy personal crap. Once more a premiere that leaves me thinking I’ve seen better...WAY better.
Jericho - something new...something I was hoping would be different but so far, it’s typical SF post-apocalypse stuff. It needs to do something to stand out more
Criminal Minds - thanks to TV guide’s returning favorites I probably won’t like what they have planned for Elle but this was about the only premiere so far that I actually liked. Intricate and drawing off King Arthur lore, it was fun.
Law and Order - Hmmm you know the Lieutenant has always been supportive of the new detectives even when they’ve had past problems so her conflicting with the new (and first female) detective was irritating as hell. TV guide’s returning favorites had a quote from the producers claiming they picked two very attractive women to take over the two open slots because and I quote ‘they wanted to put butts on the couch’ infuriated me. Yes, okay you were trying to appeal to the penis but don’t say it. At least pretend you picked these actresses for a reason. That said I think they both have potential
Numb3rs - can’t watch it. I can only tape what I watch and thanks to NBC being dipshits and moving L&O’s all over the place, I have two days where there is nothing I watch and on Friday L&O is up against Numb3rs, I made a choice. Sigh. This sucks.
Trinity Blood - Hmmm I’m not sure watch the creators of this anime think the Catholic church is like but it’s sure not this. That said, it’s sort of fun. Abel Nightroad, slightly effete always broke priest until it’s vampire butt kicking time is just fun...not to mention he’s a form of uber vampire that feeds only on other vampires
Bleach - you know you have the manga (or book to be made into a movie) sitting RIGHT in front of you. Why do they feel the need to rewrite it totally? The anime isn’t bad but the changes they made to the manga have not made it better. Quite the opposite. The voice actors aren’t horrid but they could be better. And what is up with the 60's psychedelia opening sequence?
well off to lunch and back to test making horrors

Date: 2006-09-24 06:14 pm (UTC)House...oddly enough never interested me. I think Hugh Laurie is a decent actor and I get that people like his assholey ways, but I think it gets old too easily. Meaning it's ooh this person is dying from this oh so rare disease that only 1 in a billion people ever get. House thinks it's diuhstoho-itis. Everyone disagrees. House thinks that he should get a diuhstoho-ectomy. Everyone disagrees. House does it anyway, the patient makes a miraculous recovery.
Got tired of L&O I think it's just like..overload or something.
You've got midterms already? Well..I mean I've got one next week, but we have 2 midterms (quarters) in all my classes. Kine people are mean.

Date: 2006-09-25 03:19 am (UTC)Okay you're the second person to mention Yu Yu Hakusho...which I don't know. But seriously, Bleach is the number one Shonen manga out there...to see them do THIS to it
