renn festing
Oct. 2nd, 2006 10:28 pmInteresting day today. Really, on a multiple choice exam (that you turn in BEFORE time’s up) is there ANY logical reason for leaving 5 blanks? I mean for god’s sake GUESS. You have one in five change of being right. Head desk. Saw the endocrinology and yes the stupid pills that are lower my blood sugar are making me fatter which ultimately will raise my sugar. Grrr. Then I get home to find out the neighbor I didn’t like, the one who was verbally nasty to his very young granddaughter, the one who moved out about two months ago and whose son used to sell dope out of my apartment, was killed today when a cement mixer unloaded on him at work Sheesh.
I did go to the Renn fest and it was fun with a few minor disappointments. Mainly in that it’s meant to be vendors who make their own product and there were two who didn’t. One was okay, selling Schlies which makes plastic animals (you know horses, stuff like that). I didn’t mind them since it was something for the kiddies. I did mind the skull place. I went in to look for something for flippy but it was all Chinese knock off stuff. Wonder if they’ll NOT be invited back next year. Other than that lots of vendors. I bought less but it was more expensive stuff. I really wanted the leather checkbook cover with a scene from an alchemic journal. However, I always walk the whole fest once and mark off what I’m interested in then go back as money allows. Can you believe they sold their only copy.
I did find a vendor I used to buy from in WI. He’s cool. I bought a sterling silver complete phases of the moon pendent. I got some gifts for
scarlettehawk and
evil_little_dog. I’m thrilled with them. I got for me, some cool celtic earrings from my usual vendor ‘Uncommon Adornments” (they’re on line) and from the clay working I love and have been buying from for 10 years. I got myself a lovely Gaia. I wanted his 50$ four element plaques but I had already spent too much.
Downside of the fest, the food. Too bad I got hungry when I did since I ended up with ‘fowl tidbits on a bed of curly fries. Foul was the word for it I had gone a quarter mile more I would have found bread bowl soups. The other downside was Wolf Moon. I bought a coral goddess from them for a necklace...for 18$. I turned it over at home to find their in store price...FOUR dollars .Now I know sometimes they have to mark things up to cover rental of the store and gas money but that was exorbitant in my opinion.
I did see several shows, the joust, Dirk and Guido’s swordmen (my favorite), belly dancers and Shakespear’s Idiot brother. The one thing I SHOULD have taken photos of was an older woman (‘m betting 65+) who was in garb...a red lace skirt with no under skirt...nothing like seeing granny panties. But worse were the granny boobs stuff into and flowing out of a corset with no bra. You know the boobs I mean, the granny boobs with no form like half filled water balloons, the kind that sit of her thighs. It was...something else. She seemed to be having fun. I should have taken a picture but didn’t. Pictures will come tomorrow.
Most daring thing I did, getting a henna tattoo on my wrist in the form of the kangi for Dragon. I’m proud of it. No one at work even noticed.
And lastly GIP.
scribesds made me some cool Connor icons so thanks

Date: 2006-10-04 01:27 am (UTC)yes I have but previous jobs (and this one too really) frown VERY heavily on visible tatts so that would mean it would be under my clothing...okay I can live with that. My problem is, I'm so Gemini I can never make up my mind. I'm better with things that fade adn I can change

Date: 2006-10-04 10:28 am (UTC)I always wanted a tat on my shoulder so that it could be visible if I wanted it to be. But I never quite got round to it - and I'm probably getting a bit old now!

Date: 2006-10-03 12:39 pm (UTC)No excuse on the multiple choice. I think you should fail them on principal.
I love Ren shows. Although the one here was a little underplanned. It's Arizona for damn sakes. It's hot. Making people wait in line for an hour for water should be against the law
