Another 5 things challenge
Oct. 3rd, 2006 12:09 amThis one was for
evil_little_dog who wanted 5 ways Mei-Chan could die spectacularly. Apologies to any Mei-Chan fans out there. She just annoys us. Consider this therapeutic for the muse.
1. At the Hands of Scar
She went north with Scar and the horrible Dr. Marcoh. Mei chan wasn’t really sure what Scar wanted in the mountains but she would follow him anywhere. He was the one man who hadn’t disillusioned her. All her girlie fantasizing about Edward died the moment she met the Fullmetal Alchemist. Alphonse was okay expect he was against Scar. She just didn’t understand it. Marcoah kept calling Scar a serial killer but what did he know? All right, he knew about the Philosopher Stone but what else?
A stone the Crimson Alchemist had had, which she stole from his body after Scar gave him what he deserved for what he had done to Scar’s people. Scar had destroyed the long crystal the Crimson Alchemist carried inside his belly but missed the little round one, Marcoh’s stone. She cupped it in her little hands.
“Destroy it,” Scar growled..
Mei-Chan closed her hands over it. “But Scar, this is the salvation of my clan.”
“It was built from the anguish of living men, my people, from their flesh and blood, from their souls. It’s evil and I won’t let it exist any linger,” Scar said lowly.
“I won’t give it up,” Mei-chan said. The look of sorrow in Scar’s red eyes surprised her. Marcoah and the Elric brother’s warning flashed in her mind as Scar reached for her, an apology on his lips. Disassembly was a painful death.
2. At the Hands of Ran Fan
Ran Fan had listened to Dr. Knox talking of death and all the sorrow he felt at causing it. Maybe she would find deep pity at taking lives too if she had been trained as a doctor instead of a body guard for her beloved young Master.
Injured though she was, Ran Fan knew her duty. She had to be sure that any threats to Ling and the Empire were neutralized. Dr. Knox might not understand but that had to mean neutralized permanently. An enemy declawed and left alive would just find another way to kill you.
Ran Fan no pity as she went over to Mei-Chan lying on the couch. The girl had her knives. She was fast. Ran Fan was faster. She would owe Dr. Knox a new couch. When he saw the scene, he wasn’t very understanding about it but he added Mei-Chan’s body to the cooler in his morgue, just another visiting foreigner who turned down the wrong alley never to make it out.
3. At the Hands of Greed!Ling
A wide smile slithered across Ling’s face. He had made it back to Xing faster than he had hoped or reasonably expected. Fuu and Ran Fan still seemed frightened of the changes in him but they were coping. Greed was happy to see his...no Ling’s father die, leaving him emperor. Well, sort of. There would be battles to fight and a claim to defend but Ling knew he was up to it. The Greed portion of him wondered what Father would think of him running all the way back to Xing. He decided that it didn’t really matter. He was Greed, after all and staying within limits wasn’t his strong suits. Besides, Father might approve of another country under his thumb.
And to that end, Ling had to eliminate enemies. With Ran Fan’s warnings in mind, he had captured Mei-Chan as soon as she appeared. He turned her severed hand over on the pillow it had been dismayed upon. The dead girl’s tiny fingers were still clenched around a round, red stone. She could have undone him with that. Ling pried it free and swallowed it down.
Problem solved.
4. At the Hands of Kimbley
“Did you honestly think you could just steal my stone?”
Mei-Chan whipped around at the sound of Kimbley’s voice. She sucked in a breath, seeing the mask of blood he wore over his face. He limped but he seemed determined to stop her. She couldn’t allow that. Her clan needed the Philosopher’s Stone. “I need it more than you.” Mei-Chan’s fingers inched toward her knives.
Kimbley snorted. “I wouldn’t bet on it. Turn it over and I might let you live.”
“Where’s Scar?” she demanded to know.
“I wasn’t so kind to him.” Kimbley wiped the blood from his forehead.
Mei-Chan whipped her knives at him but he was faster than she anticipated. Still, she heard a yelp of pain as one knife winged him.
“Little bitch!” Kimbley flicked his hand at her and to her surprise the blood droplets that flew from his bloody hand exploded around her knocking Mei-Chan down.
Dazed, she squirmed as Kimbley stood over her and touched her face. He plucked the sone from her hand and stepped back fast. Her body felt so warm, so weird as if she had contracted a sudden fever.
“What did you do to me?”
“Didn’t your scarred Ishbalan friend tell you anything? I’m the Crimson Alchemist. My specialty is making living bombs. Should have just given it up, little lady.” Kimbley smirked and sauntered out of blast range.
Mei-Chan tried to turn her healing alchemy on herself but Didn’t know how to undo what Kimbley had done. She felt a tearing sensation then nothing.
5. In the Crossfire
“Get back out of the way, Fullmetal. This isn’t your or Alphonse’s fight,” Mustang growled, eyeing Scar warily. “You’re in my firing zone.”
“You can’t just kill him,” Al cried.
“Al,” Ed hissed. He didn’t approve either but he understood how this was necessary. Al’s armored head swivelled so he could look at his brother. Ed was always shocked at how much emotion Al was capable of expressing through metal. He wasn’t happy.
“I won’t let you hurt, Scar,” Mei-Chan cried, drawing her knives.
Riza’s gun cocked. “Don’t even think about it.”
“Mei-Chan, stay out of this,” Scar growled. “This is between me and the alchemist-murderer.”
“Ironic, you using that term, Scar,” Roy said, his eyes haunted as his fingers tensed against each other. He had done far too much killing but Mustang had no plans of dying now.
He and Scar moved as one. Mustang was vaguely aware of the little girl shrieking at him as she charged him then disappeared between the flashes of power. His flames roared. Earth shot up trying to shield Scar - probably one of the damn soft hearted Elrics who thought there were other ways to do this - and the destructive power of Scar’s alchemy. Roy felt pain radiating along his thigh. No, not Scar’s touch. A damn Xing throwing knife stuck out of his thigh. Mustang sucked in a breath, stumbling back.
The smoke cleared and he and Scar were still standing. Mei-Chan lay broken on the torn earth, burnt and one limb missing. Which one of them had killed her accidently? All of them apparently.
Mustang tried to move, hearing Scar’s anguished cruse at the girl’s death. The Ishbalan charged him. Riza’s gun roared and Scar dropped, two small black holes in his scarred forehead.
“Colonel, sir,” Hawkeye cried and he heard ‘Roy, love, are you all right?’
“I’ll be all right.” Roy said, trying to walk and collapsed. Hawkeye was at his side instantly, starting to stabilize the knife until a doctor could safely remove it.
“ Mei-Chan’s dead,” Al said sadly.
“I’m sorry, Alphonse,” Roy said.
“What now?” Ed asked.
“We bury the dead,” Roy said solemnly.

Date: 2006-10-03 10:47 pm (UTC)My fav was Ling/Gree but I would've liked to see more of Ling involved. Maybe something that had to do with Mei-chan wanting to kill Ran Fan, and that was something he wouldn't allow... Or maybe I'm just trying to plant plot bunnies without shame. ^^;
And also, the last one because there was that smidge of Royai. I would have like to see Riza take her down instead, though. Like, "Don't even think about hurting my man, little bitch. Oh NO, you just didn't!" XD
... Sorry.
Loved it!
