Dear Brain,

I don't appreciate you waiting until I have the covers tucked up around me before you decide to tell me about this heart wrenching scene where the hero is dying and everyone is around him trying to find a way to help him while in the mean time he's asking for a few shots of morphine to o.d. on to make his death quick. That's sad enough on it's own. Doing it when I'm about to sleep rots. I was awake for half the night sniffling.

And brain, keep writing. Quit drifting off. You need to focus. I know it's late but time is short so quit staring at those inner monkeys and start working.

That's always when my brain has the nifty ideas. Right before I drift off, when I'm in shower, and at other inconvenient moments.

Now, sometimes when I'm stumped for ideas, I jump in the shower.

or when i'm behind the wheel of my car so I started carrying a tape recorder there and now i no longer get ideas

I hate it so much when that happens. Usually when I'm in bed an entire section of a story I'm thinking of falls into place....then for instance yesterday I spent an hour staring at a word document and didn't write a single thing :/

I can't handle character deaths at all. I've wasted more tears over imaginary people's deaths than I have over the passing of blood relatives. Which sounds pretty cold, but it makes sense to writers (hey, we talk to these imaginary people, so of course we also mourn them when they pass on. It really is like losing a friend, and they tend to die such wretched deaths at our hands, too.)
