Kind of a wasted weekend
Jul. 6th, 2004 12:26 amIt rained out the fireworks every night not that
evil_little_dog amd I probably would have went because it meant getting there early and when it's 90+ and 100% humidity who wants to be hanging around outside. Got a little bit written but not nearly enough for the Ripper ficathon. Did get a little on my novel done. It being 80's retro weekend helped since that's when it's set.
Tried to go to see Spiderman2 today. I wasn't too keen on it (especially after all the work I did on the manatee data crapped out and I have to convert 20+ files so the professor can open them) because I figured too many people would STILL be off work and as much as I want to see this movie, I don't want to see it in a packed house but evil_little_dog thinks it's possible to see it so we try anyhow. My car didn't want to start but since it was on a weird angle and low on gas I didn't think too much of it other than it's never done that before.
We get there. it's sold out for the next two hours and the next showing has like 11 open seats and they're already lined up. No way in hell are we standing in line for 2 hours for this. We go back to the car. It still sputters to a start and we're on a flat surface. Hmmm, evil suggests my battery might be going bad. I'm thinking yeah it's 5 years old with 90,000+ miles on it so we head to Sears for a new battery. They have express service. Somehow they think 2 hours is express. What a waste of my day. Should have just paid for the battery (but it took 1 1/2 of those hours to confirm it WAS the battery) and walked across the street to the crappy theatre and saw Shrek 2 or something.
