In talking to [livejournal.com profile] carlyinrome about the merits one of her professors doesn't have, I got to thinking about my students. You know what, on the final muscle lab practical today, not only did they pass all but one got 100% and two of them did it with no extra credit. I had THREE students from my non-major class switch to biology and wanted ME as their advisor. I think maybe I'm doing something right. Now to make in through finals next week without going batshit.

Now on to the holiday stuff. I said I wouldn't...but I couldn't resist. Now DON'T expect I'll get them all done by the holidays (i still owe some other stuff too) since a) I have stories with deadlines and b) my nano characters still won't shut up and that's a good thing (except in class, they need to just hush then) So if you'd like a drabble (and let me know if you want it holiday or else it'll be whatever)
The usual line up of fandoms

A. BtVS
B. AtS
C. FMA (the only place I do slash just fyi and heck it's only one pairing...)
D. Bleach (gen fic)
E. Fruits Basket (can you count the trio as slash if they're canon?)
F. X-Files
G. Star Trek
H. heck I'm willing to give D. Gray-Man a go

just leave me a character(s)/pairing and a prompt

You know I've wondered that. Because in some of my classes, say on the first midterm there's a fairly high mean, you'd expect the second midterm to be harder. And I don't get why they feel the need to make it harder? I mean why is that a bad thing that your students do well in your course? Is that not a reflection of you? Is it true say everyone does really well that you have to justify those good grades to the higher ups? I remember a prof saying that, but he said he'd go ahead and justify them without any qualms.

I'm not sure what to say about the practicals, because those really are my forte, I wish I could pass with flying colours on all my written midterms.

sometimes there is a problem if ALL your students get very high grades. It's not thought that you're an excellent teacher or you have good students, it's assumed the tests are too easy since it's not usual to have everyone do well. There is usually a bimodal curve at the high and low ends. I'm not complaining they all did well. I'm thrilled that they did.

and okay cool

You'd think that profs WOULD be thrilled that their students are say..actually learning something. But I guess some don't care, they're just worried about the research and the funding they need.
