WTF would possess Yahoo to do service on IM during prime time? Morons. And have you noticed you can no longer find a way to talk Yahoo at all. I wanted to moan about the fact that i get a security warning every time i reply to a LJ post and clicking the 'dont' show this message' button doesn't help and there is no way of actually doing this. I FINALLY found a customer care service button and it takes you to an error page that tells me I must have typed the url in wrong...see this is what they mean when they say you get what you pay for.

as for the musings...i'm not into holiday music until maybe two weeks before the event. This is a backlash against having to endure it from even before Thanksgiving. So I get into the car tonight and hear a new one...James Penguin, Secret Agent Bird....okay then. The station then segues into 'All I want for christmas is a tan' by Kenny Chesney... just had to share that.

BRAD PAISLEY LYRICS

"Penguin, James Penguin"

Well the reindeer pull the sleigh
And the elves make the toys
Those are the stories that are well known to all
Little girls and boys

But I've got another story
That I bet you haven't heard
Did you know that Santa
Has a secret agent bird

He's Penguin, James Penguin
That dapper little guy
Like a well dressed duck in a three piece tux
He's Santa's secret spy

Have you ever wondered
How Santa keeps tabs
How he knows when you've been good
How he knows when you've been bad

He's Penguin, James Penguin
That dapper little guy
Like a well dressed duck in a three piece tux
He's Santa's secret spy

From an undisclosed location
He's watching me and you
He's got satellite uplinks in his cufflinks
Yeah he sees everything you do

He's Penguin, James Penguin
That dapper little guy
Like a well dressed duck in a three piece tux
He's Santa's secret spy

Not so very long ago
Santa didn't need much help
But with more and more kids every year
He soon got overwhelmed
He told the elves one Christmas
We can't do this anymore
Then a knight in shining polyester
Waddled through his door

And it was Penguin, James Penguin
He was there to save the day
He had wireless
And GPS outfitted on the sleigh

And Santa said PenguinWon't you be my ears and eyes
How'd you like to help me run
My SCFBI

He's Penguin, James Penguin
And now I guess you've heard
How Santa got his little Christmas
Secret Agent Bird

that's cute. And I tend to be the same way about Christmas music.

I reviewed Brad Paisley's Christmas disc a couple weeks ago. Love "Penguin, James Penguin." Cute!

I was just sorry I had only caught the last refrains of it. It was enough to make me go look for it. How's the rest of the album

Oh, it's generally excellent - but then, Brad's about the only mainstream artist I do like. I'm beginning to think the "Kung-Pao Buckaroos" have overstayed their welcome, but it's so nice Brad's giving air to guys like Bill Anderson and Little Jimmy Dickens I don't even mind that.

(I hope you don't mind me friending you - I was reading your journal over Barb's shoulder a couple of days ago and noticed you liked some of the same music I do!)

Oh heck I didn't even notice it was you. Well I wasn't so much awake this morning...

no don't mind at all. I like all sorts of music. I like a lot of mainstream and a lot of stuff no one's ever heard of

*g* Well, I'm not that memorable.

I'm one of those "countrier than thou" sorts that Robbie Fulks makes fun of - the Americana "can't-stand-the-mainstream" snobs. But at least I know my shortcomings! *g* I did at least put a Martina McBride CD in my Top 20 of the year!

yeah I remember Barb mentioning that. That's actually the country that's not really to my taste. I'm one of those who actually like the country rock stuff. Then again I like most music. Needs to go and thin the cd herd this year.

Most Americana IS country-rock -- or, more rightly, everything that's "too much" itself to make the mainstream. Too country, too rock, too blues, too roots... that's Americana.

Check out guys like Reckless Kelly and Cross Canadian Ragweed.

Personally, I'm not a Christmas person (I have a lot of reasons but I don't wanna be a downer on you so I'll skip it). I prefer weird/humorous songs, however. Yes, I have Dr. Demento's autograph. Of the twisted "carols", I prefer "Holy Shit! It's Christmas" and "The Night Santa Went Crazy." heh.
